SCMEA members and all who support education and music education, our congressional representatives need to hear from us on this. This drastic cut could destroy a huge chunk of Title I funding that goes to schools in impoverished areas, and it is estimated that SC could lose more than 3500 teachers. All children deserve access to a quality education! In SC, Senators Lindsey Graham and Tim Scott represent all SC citizens. You can find out who your congressman is by following this link: https://www.house.gov/representatives/find-your-representative #:~:text=If%20you%20know%20who%20your,the%20U.S.%20House%20switchboard%20operator.

Introduced by the House Appropriations Labor-HHS-Education subcommittee, the FY24 Department of Ed budget slashes funding by $22.5 billion, the lowest allocation since 2006. Titles I and II along with several key programs supporting music education face elimination or drastic cuts. Learn more and urge your members of Congress to support education funding! bit.ly/SupportMusicEdFY24
