Delusionally Optimistic

Having the “How hard can it be?” mindset backed with the willingness to put in work has served me well.

So when the opportunity to run the Cleveland Marathon popped up, there was no question between the half or the full. It was always the full. How hard can it be?

“Fitness is simple, but not easy. Even though it’s not easy, it’s worth it.”

It’s simple to understand if you want to lose weight, eat less. If you want to gain weight, eat more. It’s simple to understand working out is good for your health.

Although they’re simple concepts to understand, they’re not easy to implement. It’s going to take work and intentional effort on your end, but that work will be worth it.

If you’re struggling with your fitness, my suggestion would be to dumb it down. Make it as simple to as possible to understand, then implement that simplicity👌🏼

Weekly Challenge🕛

Fast until noon three times this week.

If you’ve ever wanted to try intermittent fasting (IF) this is a great way to ease into it

Some tips:
☕️Black Coffee during your fast is fine
💧Drink plenty of water
🧠Don’t let your mind convince you your hungry or starving. You’ll be ok. Work that mental toughness muscle
🏋🏼‍♀️Even if you workout in the morning, fasting is still fine

Adding a new dynamic to training with this vest🧨

If you’re looking for a way to change up your training or add an additional layer of suck, I couldn’t recommend a weighted vest more. Typical body weight exercises like walking, running, burpees, push ups, pull ups, planks, etc. are now able to be extremely progressed📈

I’ve seen plates that make the vest range anywhere between 10-50 pounds. Mine weighs 20lbs. and I find that to be a pretty good sweet spot for adding resistance to most exercises

Weekly challenge😴

Get a minimum of 7 hours of sleep every night this week

A few mind blowing facts about sleep from Dr. Mathew Walker’s book “Why We Sleep”
💤Routinely sleeping less than 6 or 7 hours a night demolishes your immune system, more than DOUBLING your risk of cancer.
💤Insufficient sleep is a key lifestyle factor determine whether or not you will develop Alzheimer’s disease.
💤Inadequate sleep—even moderate reductions for just one week—disrupts blood sugar levels so profoundly that you would be classified as pre-diabetic.
💤Short sleeping increases the likelihood of your coronary arteries becoming blocked and brittle, setting you on a path toward cardiovascular disease, stroke, and congestive heart failure.
💤Sleep disruption further contributes to all major psychiatric conditions, including depression, anxiety, and suicidality.

This challenge is not “get in bed 7 hours before you have to wake up.” If it usually takes you an hour to get to sleep, plan accordingly...

Cut your caffeine consumption in half this week📉

If you’re someone who has two cups of coffee every day, I would suggest:
✅ 1 cup every day
Instead of:
❌ 2 cups every other day

I think that would be a more sustainable approach

Is it gonna suck? A little bit. But that’s the point👊🏼

Weekly Challenge💥

Workout 6 times this week💪🏼

Before some people completely write this one off as a loss because you only workout a few times a week...

A “workout” doesn’t have to be a traditional gym workout. It can be:
🚶🏽‍♂️ A walk
🏂 Snowbording / Skiing (this will be my workout Friday & Saturday)
🏀 Playing an active sport like basketball, volleyball, tennis, soccer, etc.
👶🏼 Playing outside with your kiddos
