GAPI had its first Regional meeting for the 2021-2022 calendar year in Alpharetta, GA under the dynamic leadership of Dr. Lalitha Medepalli, current GAPI treasurer, Dr. Tarak Patel, GAPI president, Dr. Amol Takalkar, MD, GAPI EC. She was supported ably by other physician leaders around Atlanta and it was a very well arranged get-together at the Tadka Banquet Hall. Dr. Tarak Patel, current President and GAPI Executive Committee, BODs, BOTs and many local members attended this informative, entertaining and successful dinner meeting. Mr. Gary Black, Agricultural Commissioner of GA attended as a chief guest.

Growing number of new coming and current Atlanta area MDs of Indian heritage were part of this meeting. Local talent was up on the show during the meeting. GAPI has been instrumental in successful generous contribution to communities of GA during the COVID-19 pandemic in the last 2 years.

This was the second meeting of this year for GAPI under Dr. Chandana Prabhudev's leadership. It was in Augusta, GA on Oct. 17th, 2020. This was again an outdoor event on the beautiful pavilion on the banks of Savannah River Lock and Dam. Strict protocol for social distancing and temperature checks for the guests adhered. GAPI President-Elect, Dr. Tarak Patel was the Convener for the meeting in Augusta. Supported by Ex-President Dr. Vijay Maurya, Dr. Hemant Yagnick, BOD Dr. Vishal Sharma, and Varsha Kulkarni it was a very well attended meeting. Dr. Shyamala Erramilli, Dr. Lalitha Medepalli for Executive Committee attended as well. The Chief Guest was DA Contestant, Natalie Paine for Augusta. She laid out the judicial vision for locals. Dr. Darshak Karia, Chief of LVAD program in University Hospital did a talk on LVAD management and shared the success of his program over the last few years. Meeting adjourned after food and entertainment.

GAPI Regional Meeting Jonesboro, September 12th, 2020 GAPI Regional Meeting Jonesboro, September 12th, 2020 [vc_row][vc_column][vc_column_text]GAPI memebers and leaders attended a modified outdoor Regional meeting on August 12th, 2020. It was held in Clayton County International Park in a Picnic Shelter. Strict protocol to ensure safety from Covid-19 was observed and temperature checks, hand hygiene and touchless registration was the key. This was the first Regional Meeting for the year in these challenging times with Covid-19 pandemic under the leadership of Dr. Chandana Prabhudev and her team. Dr. Annaprna Bhat and Dr. Satish Cheti were the Master of the Ceremony and conducted the program. Dr. Firoz Yusufji, first GAPI President was the Chief Guest and spoke at the gathering. One of the other Past GAPI President, Dr. Sarvesh Naidu was also appreciated at the event. Dr. Nallathambi reminised about Dr. PM's contribution to GAPI and Dr. Tarak Patel eulogized Dr. Bipin Chudgar, both of whom we have lost this summer. They were both also Past Presidents of GAPI and contributed in the growth of GAPI. Dr. Hemant Yagnick, Immediate Past President of GAPI recognized his Executive Committee and awarded them each for their contribution in this challenging year.
