There are monuments that we walk or drive past everyday not realizing that these places are a physical representation of our struggle for equality and independence.
THE TOUR
In this Walking Tour we will focus on some of the historic buildings and institutions that are located near Hackberry and Center Street; the heart of the Eastside of SATX.
We will visit staples in the SA Black Community including:

•Carter Taylor Mortuary
•Myra Davis Hemmings Resource Center .. and more

FREEDOM Black History Bus Tours
San Antonio’s Freedom Black History bus tours travel to some of San Antonio's most historic African-American landmarks and locations! This experience is being brought to you by Melaneyes Media, the producers of the documentary film "Walk on the River: A Black History of the Alamo City."
As the city grows and changes, as the “Eastside” (historically considered the Black side of town) becomes more gentrified, as historical locations and landmarks are being demolished or forgotten- we are doing our best to help preserve our own history and tell our own story.
