Finishing up FOUR new, full size garden boxes for a graduation party and open house!

Finished up a custom baby gate! finished in stain.

Steps to reproduce:
1. Cut 2"x6" pine in half long way. (To be used as the frame)
2. Plane down the pine from step 1 to be flat and even in size.
3. Cut 2 pieces (top and bottom to wanted length)
4. Cut 2 pieces (left and right to wanted height)
5. Set your dado to 3/4" thick and 1/2" deep, run the frame pieces center over the dado blade to get a nice channel the entire length.
6. For the left and right frame pieces you want to place them wide side down and run the ends over the dado blade to get a 3/4" thick by 1/2" tall tenon. This will fit into the top and bottom frame's channel.
7. Get 1"x6" channel board and cut to height. (will need approx 6 pieces for typical stair width, but make sure you measure to get accurate values)
8. Now that all your pieces are cut, you'll want to put it together for a "dry run". Lock all the channels together and then squeeze them with the left and right frame pieces. Now place the top and bottom frame pieces on. You'll most likely be too wide at this point, so you'll have to measure and trim one of the channel boards down to size to fit within the width of the frame. Do that. Do another dry run to make sure everything fits together the way you want.
9. Great! Now that everything looks how you want it, sand and stain until you get the finish you want.
10. Now for the final assembly:
Lock together all your channel pieces,
Line all your frame channels with glue,
Put your two sides on,
Put the top and bottom on,
Clamp EVERYTHING side to side, top and bottom, make sure everything is nice and straight and TIGHT!,
Wipe up any excess glue,
Let sit for 10-15 mins and check for more excess glue leaking out, it's very important to clean this while you can with a wet cloth, otherwise you'll be scrapping it off after it hardens and messing up the finish.
11. Unclamp and admire your brand new gate!!!
12. Alternatively you can shoot me a message and I'll do all the hard work for you! I can do any portion of the steps as well:
Just cut the pieces to size, cut the channels, and tenons etc
Cut everything and sand and stain it
Or the complete assembly!
