Arion of Pittsburgh is a proposed nonprofit organization that aims to provide unparalleled support to GLBT youth and teens through the arts.
Arion will provide clients with a much needed sense of community through involvement in the arts. Whether it be a museum visit, attending a concert or theater production, or more importantly creating visual and performing art of their own, clients will have a chance to form bonds with others they can connect with. A sense of belonging is a luxury many GLBTQ teens and young adults do not get to experience in their homes or their schools. However, Arion is more than a just a community center.
We intend to provide arts oriented interventions and services geared especially towards our clients who struggle with ongoing verbal and emotional abuse. We intend to have an intensive track for more mature young-adults who are victims of physical or s*xual assault, or are struggling with drug, alcohol, or s*x addiction issues.
Services will be provided to all gay, le***an, bis*xual, transgendered, and questioning individuals from middle school through college.
