DEFENSE CHIEF, MAY BUWELTA SA PANAWAGAN NG CHINA KAUGNAY NG WPS TENSIONS

Sinagot ni Department of Defense (DND) Secretary Gilberto Teodoro Jr. ang hirit ng China na makipagtulungan para mapahupa ang tensyon sa West Philippine Sea.

Ayon kay Sec. Teodoro, kung sinsero ang China na mapanatili ang kapayapaan sa rehiyon ay dapat itigil na rin ang harassment ng mga barko nito sa Philippine forces na nagbabantay sa maritime domain.

Dapat ring suspindihin ng Beijing ang pagtatayo ng mga istraktura sa mga inaangkin nitong teritoryo.

“May panawagan din tayo sa China na sana makipagtulungan din sila na tigilan ang tension. Papaano naman iyon eh, pinapatigil nila tayo eh wala naman tigil ang pananakop nila,” ang wika ni Teodoro.

“Simple lang naman sa akin ‘iyon eh. Okay naman makipag-usap eh kaso dapat tabla,” dagdag pa niya.

Binigyang-diin rin ng kalihim na hindi papayag ang Pilipinas na gapangin ng China ang mga teritoryo ng bansa kahit ang nasa loob na ng exclusive economic zone.

Ginawa ni Teodoro ang pahayag nang bumisita sa Camp Melchor dela Cruz sa Gamu, Isabela na isa sa mga natukoy na military sites sa ilalim ng Enhanced Defense Cooperation Agreement ng Pilipinas at Estados Unidos. – rrd (mula sa ulat ni Correspondent Allan Manansala)
