Half Fast Racing
How fast? Half Fast! Welcome to Half Fast Racing, we are an ice racing/rock race team out of Northern Colorado. Thank you for visiting!
The rock crawler: Started as a '93 Cherokee, stock motor, transmission and a few feet of "frame" are all that's left. Dana 60's, 3 link suspension front and rear, and 2.5" Fox air shocks. 37" Nitto's for trying to go fast and 40's for crawling. The ice racer: This is where "Half Fast" originates. This jeep has been in the family since 1987 and has undergone numerous rebuilds over the years. 421 SB
And just like that the season is over. Had a blast at Nationals, took 3rd overall in points in the Mountain Series and already looking forward to next year. Thanks to all our friends and family that supported us this year.
Half-fast racing is coming for the SuperMod class...driver Jason Johansen has had a great season so far, can't wait to see what Saturday looks like.
The SuperMod class has strong contenders, some Colorado born, others from neighboring states, it will be fun to see who takes top honors, it's anyone's guess at this point.

It's almost "mega track" weekend, looking forward to burning some gas!

Sneak peek of the new body. Come check it out this weekend when we race the National Rampage at RAM Off-Road Park in Colorado Springs.
We’re back from Vernal UT after the first race in the mountain series! Ended up 7th out of 8 but can’t really complain since the first time the car hit the dirt was when we unloaded in Vernal. A few minor issues limited our pre-running to just one lap. On our second race lap, the trans temp climbed to 240-250 deg. Not wanting to burn up a brand new transmission, we limped back to the pits, pulling over twice to let it cool off. Pulled into the pits and found we’d blown the fuse for the transmission cooler fan. Got the fuse swapped and were able to get another 2 laps in. Other than the blown fuse that cost us a 43 minute lap, no major issues during the race and the car felt surprisingly good for not having done any suspension tuning yet. Also, a huge thanks Jon at Seneff Transmission for getting the motor tuned before the race, motor ran great all race.
First time out of the garage, getting ready to go tune the motor!
Interior panels and firewall coming together!
At that point in the build where it feels like I'm working a lot and not making much progress. Lots of little things wrapped up...front bumper and winch mount, battery box, panel tabs, seat mounts, shifters... on to plumbing, wiring and panels...
Won't be ice racing this weekend. Bummer!
As much as it hurts us to do this... races January 12th, 13th & 14th are canceled. We still don’t have enough ice to safely hold an event.
Note that all registrations for this weekend will be canceled and no payments collected.
We still have 4 weekends on the schedule, think cold thoughts!
With the ice races cancelled this weekend I had a little time to work on the buggy - got the shock hoop brace and radiator mount knocked out.
Pulled the ice racer out to give it a bath and start prepping for the 2018 Our Gang Ice Racing season! If you've never heard of it, it's the most fun you'll have on a frozen lake...
Lots of progress over the last month, I'll let the pics speak for themselves...
Front tube work is coming together!
Making progress!

Good luck this weekend to Greg Neff and Lindsay Martin. Drive fast and take chances!
Colorado racer Greg Neff is making the trek to Sturgis, South Dakota for - but he's bringing a racecar to the party! Can't wait to see the #74 take on the business of this track at the Buffalo Chip Motorsports Complex. Saturday, Spectators welcome!
A peek at what's to come...
Link mounts on the new frame are coming along. Designed in CAD and CNC plasma cut out of 100XF - 100ksi steel plate.
Big changes in the works for the buggy. Going to be replacing the frame and link mounts, as well as a few other things. Got the new frame rails welded up along with the start of the subframe. Looks a little funny now but will make more sense once link mounts are done.
Thanks to Low Range Off-Road for sharing this great shot from this past weekend. How fast? Half fast!
