Information About Session Four.....

SESSION FOCUS. With the appointment of Allison Bradshaw as the new Executive Director of Eastern Shore Healthy Communities (ESHC), the organization is beginning the next phase of promoting a growing, positive sense of health, well-being, and self-empowerment of all Eastern Shore residents. ESHC is a partnership of businesses, organizations, faith communities, and individuals of all ages, representing a wide range of community sectors and professions, engaged in addressing and improving policies, systems and environments to support a healthy Eastern Shore. Early care and education is certainly one of the important components of healthy, livable communities. With this in mind, SBES views ESHC as an essential partner in implementing the new Virginia Quality Birth to Five (VQB5) early care and education system on the Eastern Shore and across our Ready Region Southeastern.
Early childhood, particularly the first five years of life, has a lasting impact on the well-being of kids. A wide range of factors can influence these important years, including relationships with families and caregivers, socioeconomic status, and access to early childhood programs. It takes the whole community to meet the needs of this critical time of life. This session will highlight the work
of Eastern Shore Healthy Communities in promoting the healthy growth and development of young children and youth of all ages on the Eastern Shore. Key areas of discussion will be.....
Promoting equity and inclusion in early childhood settings Preparing new moms for pregnancy, birth, and parenting Supporting children's nutritional needs
Exploring strategies for minimizing the impact of poverty on young children
Tips for keeping children safe and healthy in the early years
Ways employers can support familiy needs for early care and education Accessing affordable resources to support caregivers and families
