PLEASE READ
We are still working, we are still shipping, but please be patient. I know you guys are potentially stuck at home and with extra free time are looking to check in on things or maybe wondering if we have shut down. This is not the case.
Things are likely changing, sometimes by the hour. Other business around us are closing, distributors are delayed, and day to day activities, work hours, may be effected to some degree. The things that are in our control, we will continue to move forward with. We’ve tried to order extra everything to ensure that we can continue production without delay.
Over the next few weeks, you shouldn’t see any significant difference. Work continues, and even more hours in the shop are likely being put in to help minimize delay. Yes this is safe, and a form of social distancing.
Moving forward though, if things continue the way they are, there will likely be a delay, one that is not measurable or predictable and likely not directly related to us, and more on the supply lines we are forced to deal with. I am hoping we can catch up and hopefully limit the effects or cause a slow down in production in any significant manor, but knowing life, I’m sure it will try to throw a wrench in our plans..
The best thing that we can do at this time is get gear made and out the door - PLEASE BE PATIENT WITH US - that is all we can ask. We will likely not be taking any irregular custom work at this time, so please refrain from those questions and emails as well. Delays are likely moving forward, as I’m sure is standard across the board in everything in your life, and VEIL(a small business) is no different. We have more responsibilities now than ever to do our job the best we can and to also continue to help and support those around us.
We are as prepared as best we can, and accept any and all challenges set before us. We will continue to rage towards them and provide solutions. I promise, there is no lack of work being done here. I promise no extra excuses are being made or lack of work is being done. As much as I would like it to be away from the shop, and there may be a time when this is truly necessary, it is not right now.
Work will continue and we will continue to take steps forward.

-UPDATE-
Die First Shirts are in hand and will start shipping tomorrow or Sunday - meaning your will receive tracking emails but they will likely not be in the mail until Monday or Tuesday. It will take a few days to package all these up, so please be patient. If you got in on the second preorder it will stop likely take another week or 2. We ordered a bunch of extra shirts to account for some of this, but we really have no way of keeping up with the final tally’s since it’s changing everyday. We will ship them in the order they were received. Again, thank you for your patience and the support, I promise I’ll be sleeping very little and working all weekend to get these out to y’all.
- Pre-Order for the Die First shirts will close tomorrow ( 1/15 ) at about 10PM EST -
Can’t thank y’all enough for the support, and we are pumped to get these things out. Hope y’all put them to good use and use it as a force to put in the work.
- U P D A T E -
Ok dudes(and dudettes), due to the insane number of Emails, DMs, and Comments, we’ve decided to open up a preorder for the Die First shirts. We have already ordered a bunch but honestly have no idea how many is the right number at this time. We usually don’t do preorders but it’s the best way to keep from spending time on customer service and can focus on getting gear made and out the door.
Huge shout out to Ethan for the love and support. If y’all aren’t following him and the crazy journey he’s been on, you should. Also follow his podcast and show some support there as well.
Thanks again for the support and welcome all new followers, I hope Ethan lit a fire under your ass like he did mine to make some changes.
Die First. Then Quit.
I wrote this post on Instagram when Outdoor magazine shared this over the summer, and it became one of the most liked and commented posts of 2019, so since they shared their terrible article again, I will repost my words on here. The Article wasn’t linked because I refuse to give them any more circulation.. find it if you’d like, but honestly it’s as bad as you think it is. My original comments below.
——————————————————
Weak mindset is one of the biggest dangers we have as a people and especially the individual. The next worse thing you can do, is spread that weak mindset. This article just reeks of that small, gun store ignorance regurgitation, that some guy, heard something from some other guy, one time, BS and preached it as gospel cause it was easier than raising the standards. So instead of encouraging people to seek information, and training, why don’t we just say, “y’all shouldn’t carry guns, cause they make me feel nervous.” I’m not concerned about bears, mountain lions, creepy dudes or Joe Bob with his revolver, because I myself always have a firearm, and feel I’ve sought better training that those things. I don’t go about my daily life concerned about others with guns, or live in fear, I just recognize my right and ability to carry one to protect myself and others, and the conversations I have, with the people I meet aren’t even remotely effected by this, and they almost never even know it’s there.. why? Cause I carry a gun every day, everywhere. It’s just as much of a part of me as anything, yet at the same time, effects me in no way. This is because of my mindset, training and SKILL which negates every concern this guy wrote about..
Stop spreading you’re weakness and spread your strength.
Get spooled up on what makes red dots more effective than irons, the myths behind them, and learn how to be proficient with your tools. Dots are the future and now is the time to learn.
Registration is on open on the site.
One of the mini blocks of instruction we go over in our pistol classes is about red dots. With the growing popularity, availability, and durability of the gear, these are becoming more and more prevalent for every day carry as well as duty use for departments and specialized units. We talk about them for many reasons, one of which is because we’ve seen the benefits of having them on our tools. Another reason is to dispel myths and bad information students possible have received to dissuade them from venturing further down the knowledge hole. Lastly, we actually use the dot guns as teaching tools for a lot of things like grip, draw stroke, seeing and processing information, and what I call “shooter confidence”. It’s tough to process what sights are doing under recoil sometimes, and the glowing red orb can teach us a lot about what the gun is doing and what we are doing as shooters. It accelerates the learning process, and helps identify issues, issues that can be seen in real time.
3 of the students that took our Carry Handgun class in November have contacted me saying they have taken the red dot plunge and stated to see the benefits. Food for thought.
We got some red dot stuff specific stuff coming up in 2020, so keep an eye out.
If you’re looking to rock the ZEV Technologies OZ-9, we’ve got you covered in gear. Seems all of our gear that’s light bearing will work without issues for the OZ-9, but a few holsters need a slight tweak to accommodate. We’ve put the options up on the site just to be sure. The good news is that gear made specifically for the Zev, will still work fine with factory G***k guns as well.
Our new Sig P365XL APEX holsters are live on the site. Wil work for both the original 365, and the XL models. Shown here with the MOD wing and the built in concealment wedge in the back of the holster, to help tuck the grip of the gun and minimize printing.
Playing a little catch up here and showing off our new mold for double stack 1911s and 2011 pattern guns. This Fett holster is actually a 5.4” model for guns like the STI DVC or STI Omni that have comps. Either way this holster will work with 1911s or 2011(all lengths) that have a surefire x300U or XH35 attached. Several mounting attachments available as well. So wether it’s for competition or duty, the extra level of retention has you covered.
Assisted the local SWAT guys with MRDS class yesterday. They’ve been running red dot sights on their guns for the last few years now, and recently they had Dan Smith from Centrifuge Training LLC come in and teach their instructors the way. We spent the day reviewing a lot of the material Dan presented. Though these guys are pretty damn spoiled up on the dots since they’ve been using them and training with them pretty heavy, i think some eyes were opened to what could still be done with these sights in less than adequate situations. Dan runs an excellent dot program, ESPECIALLY if you are an LEO trying to implement them or convince the high brass.
Excellent day of training and finally got to bust out the SRO for its first 650 rounds or so.. man is it forgiving, and FAST. We will see how it holds up.
Results are final from the Quantified Performance, Weekend in the Arena match. Looks like I ended up 4th in my division(practical precision), and 9th out of 76 overall. Even managed 2 stage wins(one shown here). Not bad for my second ever PRS style match and I was shooting a .223 gun in the same division as some much more capable calibers. I learned a ton after the first match and still have a lot more to work on in preparation of the next one, maybe I’ll even shoot a big boy bullet.. who knows.
Shout out to the American Defense MFG team who took 2nd and 4th in division, we showed up ready to party! Thanks Ash and Jack for another great match, and..

Second batch of Die First shirts drops at 2pm Eastern today. Here is your warning. Last batch sold out in under 2 hours.
Follow up from the post a little while back, our newly designed Gladius and Fett Holster for 1911/2011 doublesteck Guns and x300/XH35 Lights are finished up and looking crispy. These have already started leaving the shop as of this week and pumped on how well they came out. I know people been askin for them with the popularity of the 2011 guns, and this is something we’ve been working on for a while. These can be made to fit all the weird 2011 variants and lengths like the STI 5.4” DVC or the comped OMNI or 4” Tac models as well as full rail guns like the Triarcs and other variants from builders. On the site and ready to go.
Update on the Carry Pistol class Nov 2/3
If you are active Mil/LEO you will have free lodging available provided by Tuscaloosa County Sheriffs Department. To me that says a lot.. and one less excuse for you to make. Good people are doing everything they can to provide opportunities for you to train and make it that much easier. No excuses.
And if you’re LEO/Mil get with me as well. We provide a discount for active dudes.
If you didn’t know, the future is now. Dots are the way. The way for competition, the way for carry. The way to be more effective in just about every condition. Data doesn’t lie nor does the timer. If you are still hesitant about making the jump, you should make it now. You don’t have to wait 12 weeks for optic cuts like I did in 2013, you don’t have to spend $220 on a cut either, hell one of the best options out for a dot is like just over $200. Only thing you gotta do is a little training.. and by that I mean seek out instruction from someone who knows more than you. A class with a good instructor can help bridge the gap that took me 6 years and like 150k rounds to figure out on my own. Good info is out there if you know where to look and who to go to.
Wheel guns upon this Wednesday.
Mean Gene Leather Belt.
A re-run of our Die First shirts will hit the site Monday at noon EST. We don’t normal Lu reprint shirts but have had a lot of demand for these over the years. They will be the same soft material as all our others, form fitting, and in 2 colors - Black, and heather green.
I already feel I didn’t order enough..
We got a few sheets of Rhodesian Brushstroke pattern in, so we tried some out. The pattern is currently listed for the APEX holster and G***k Ghost models at this time, but will our up options on other models as well this weekend. Not sure we will stoke this full time either but we got some on hand for now.

Fred has been a friend of ours for a while, and probably one of the first followers and customers we had, maybe even before the official VEIL name even. He’s been along for our journey and watched(and helped) us grow as a company, and we’ve watched him train and progress as not only a shooter but watch him go through the progress over the years to become a police officer as well. He truly is one of those guys that keeps us honest and we strive to never fail. Check the IG link below and see his short video on our gear and what he carries.

Carry Pistol Applications - Tuscaloosa Alabama / November 2nd-3rd.
First public class we’ve run in a few years. Day 1 is performance pistol, building on proficiency with a handgun and capabilities of the tools. Day 2 focuses on the application and the use of the tools at it applies to your needs, largely revolving around concealed carry. We will cover more than just shooting guns. We’ll talk mindset, medical, gear set ups, movement, touch on low light, and other topics directly related. This is not a beginners class, you should be able to demonstrate basic fundamental skill as well as safe gun handling. You’ll think differently and be better prepared to identify issues in your own shooting. We will get better this weekend and it’s gonna be a good crew for sure. Link is in the bio, and feel free to shoot over any questions you have.

Bill Rapier at AMTAC shooting is a phenomenal instructor, and can’t recommend him enough as a teacher.
Lots of people out there looking for a better holster for Open Guns, especially in 3 Gun where reholstering a pistol is in important option for stage planning.
This is the Urn holster that’s sold by NERD, and gives you superior retention, with the ability to reholster on the fly. Designed around the STI Open and Steel Guns, it accommodates most 2011 pattern Open Guns with out gas pedals.
They are back in stock and more on the way on NERDs site.
After two heavier than normal training days at the Centrifuge Training LLC MRDS Instructor course, I took both my pistols out to inspect them since I was at least aware of one casualty from the class.
Photo 1: shows a missing front sight. Originally I thought it had just become loose and fallen off, but after trying to reattach the sight this afternoon, it actually failed. Somehow the threading on the post or the sight actually became damaged and sheered. It was unable to be reattached.
Photo 2: the rear sight in front of the ACRO had shifted and walked loose as well. This site was originally secured with thread locker.
Photo 3: shows 2 “chips” on the ACRO glass. These are not actually chips that can be felt on the outside if the glass, they are inside the first sacrificial lens. One was their prior to the class, second one become visible after malfunction work during the class.
I won’t be contacting Aimpoint yet on this issue, since i know a few people who have been without ACROs for longer than anticipated for warranty work. I have heard through the grapevine that production has stopped on these as well, and I don’t want to be down an optic.
So for those dudes that are somewhere on the internet saying “my irons sights don’t fail” show them this.. and before they say some dumb stuff, all sights were installed as instructed using thread locker.. this isn’t the first or even 4th time I’ve lost irons. However, I will say that these guns got hot on day 2. Like almost unable to handle them hot after a couple hundred rounds in short duration during various courses of Fire. In my opinion this is likely a heavy contributing factor in the failures. Even on higher round count days, Guns dont normally get this hot for this long. So everything was re-torqued, and thread locker reapplied and will be back to their normal roles. Lessons learned.
APEX holster for the Sig p320 series Guns. Shown here cut for optics, with Multicam black, and MOD wing concealment wing, and Discrete Carry Concepts Metal MOD 4 clip.
We had a lot of questions and interest about our Fett holster we posted the other day, and heres a quick video showing that same holster in action.
