Milwaukee Irish Arts

Thanks to all who attended the Milwaukee Irish Arts (MIA) Bloomsday event yesterday at County Clare – where we presented a staged reading of Colin Murphy’s, “The United States versus Ulysses,” a new play about the attempt by the United States government to ban the book Ulysses in the 1930s. Special thanks also to all our actors who did a wonderful job animating the many characters assigned to each of them. We received glowing audience comments about how much they enjoyed their performances and the play.

Milwaukee Irish Arts is sad to announce that our long-standing and cherished Board member, Pam Kissinger, passed away late last month. Since 2006 Pam had worked tirelessly behind the scenes on all MIA productions and as the official liaison with Celtic MKE for the annual Theatre Pavilion at Irish Fest. Pam always went the extra mile in providing for the needs of the company and was known as host extraordinaire for visiting companies from around the region and from Northern Ireland. Pam will be sorely missed by all of us at Milwaukee Irish Arts.

A week ago today Milwaukee Irish Arts closed a successful weekend of 5 one-act plays/16 performances at the Irish Fest Theatre Pavilion. What a feat! Heartfelt thanks go out to theatre coordinators: Pam Kissinger, Margaret Casey and James J Gallagher, directors: Amanda J. Hull, Lindsey L. Gagliano, Mitch Weindorf, James J Gallagher; actors: Nate Press, Sarah Mankowski-Lathrum, Madeleine Craig, George Sheppard, Amy Callahan, Brittany Boeche-Vossler, Isaac Brust, Kevin Callahan, Kyle Conner, David Ferrie, Laura Monagle, Libby Amato, Eamonn O'Neill, Eamonn de Cogain; and stage/house management: Emily Rindt, Eamonn O’Neill, Brian Theisen, Bo Johnson, Pat Kissinger and additional volunteers. We were so proud of the talent and dedication of all involved. It's always a crazy busy weekend, but our combined audience of over 1,100 made it so worthwhile. Come join us next year!
