DTS have facilitated the delivery of this 180PE sewage treatment plant from Harlequin Tanks for a care home in Northern Ireland. This tank was safely transported from Lincolnshire by Haddington Contracting Ltd who made everything look easy, and were extremely professional on site.

We identified a failed and undersized system, and despite poor ground conditions and protected nearby waterways we have liaised with the NIEA and were able to design a bespoke system. The final plans were carefully decided, and the system will be the first of its kind in Northern Ireland.

With Harlequin by our side as a partner their engineers were able to help on other aspects such as a bespoke pumping station to match our requirements. This will be an interesting installation which we look forward too.

We noticed it increasingly difficult to organise tankers for the Antrim, Derry and Fermanagh regions in this past year.

In order to provide our clients with a reliable service we have purchased a new machine allowing us to facilitate homeowners, Insurers, Loss Adjusters.

Thanks to Richard Williams Engineering for understanding our needs and supplying this unbelievable machine which will allow us to empty tanks, Jet Sewers and Storm lines and carry out Survey reports without the worry of debris and other obstructions.

Approximately 60 tonne of topsoil needed in Greyabbey.

The wrong contractor was used to install a new drainage system which failed within 6 months. DTS are now removing everything as a result and will now install a system that is design and constructed to suit the ground conditions.

There are plenty of “contractors” capable of digging a trench, or clearing a drain but when it comes to high water or rock table areas conventional Soakaway systems will not last.

Mid Ulster District Council

Tricel Vitae treatment plant (under 5 years old) removed and replaced with the ultra reliable Harlequin Hydroclear system.

The Hydroclear has numerous benefits, however most people refer to the surface mounted kiosk which can be situated up to 10 meters away from the tank. Not only is this aesthetically pleasing, it means that the electrical components aren’t situated directly on top of the tank and subject to unnecessary moisture from condensation in the summer months.

When a building contractor does “sewer repairs” on an elderly person’s home. What a mess, and the worse is yet to come. They were kind enough to install a new “septic tank” which turned out to be…….an old oil tank which is illegally discharging to a watercourse.

Folks, just because someone is a bit “cheaper” does not mean the job will be done right. To leave a pensioners home like this is just disgraceful.

In an attempt to help reduce pollution in our local Lough Neagh DTS are offering a FREE septic system health check on all domestic houses surrounding Lough Neagh that are served by a septic or treatment tank.

This service is offered to all houses within 3 miles of the Lough shore.

The levels of Nitrogen and Phosphorus which have caused these Algae blooms along with the weather and other factors are a direct result of Slurry, Sewage and fertiliser.

Ensuring your septic tank isn’t discharging untreated effluent is a key component to tackling the overall problem which will not be cured overnight and requires everyone to do their bit.

To maintain a healthy discharge some of the steps you can take are:
• Have your septic tank emptied annually.
• Check for things like collapsed baffles within the system.
• Reduce the use of chemicals and cleaning agents as these kill the good bacteria in your tank.
• Check if your rainwater/surface water is connected to your tank, during heavy rainfall this will wash solids and untreated effluent through your system to your discharge point.
• If you have a treatment tank make sure it’s switched on and running as it should.

Free health checks will be allocated on days when our surveyors and drainage teams are in particular areas, we do not require you to be home as this will be a non invasive check. Any issues found will be e-mailed to you discreetly with pointers on how to improve your system.

FULL TIME PERMANENT

We require the following for contracts in NI and Scotland. Your role can be based in NI or Scotland and travelling is not necessary however you will receive extra pay when travelling.

• Experienced labourers - drainage experience laying, backfilling sewer and storm pipework. Installing septic tanks and sewage treatment tanks would be an advantage.

• Drainage surveyors - Training will be provided, and a course/certification will be gained through employment. This role will include CCTV of drainage pipework and tanks, writing reports and downloading footage onto a computer. Transferring files from site etc. This role will require a full clean driving licence and a minimum age of 25 due to insurance requirements.
