🇺🇸🚒🎆I hope to see you all on the parade route this July 4th! Congratulations to CBFD Chief Pete Glogolich who will serve as Grand Marshall!!👏👏

Chief Peter “Pete” Glogolich of the Chatham Borough Volunteer Fire Department will be honored as the Grand Marshall for the 2024 Independence Day Parade. Chief Pete Glogolich was a member of the Chatham Heavy Rescue Unit for 4 years before becoming a member of the Chatham Fire Department where he has served for the past 42 years and continues to serve as Chief of Department for the second time. The Parade is set to start at 10:30 a.m. on Thursday, July 4.

Parade Chairman Corey Duren announced the plans for the 2024 Independence Day celebration, which is the 70th parade organized by the Chatham Fire Department Association.

Chatham Borough Mayor Carolyn Dempsey and members of the Borough Council will "inspect" the members of the Chatham Borough Volunteer Fire Department after the flag is raised at the firehouse at 9:15 a.m.

The parade starts at 10:30 a.m. at the intersection of Hillside Avenue and Main Street and continues down Main Street to Chatham Middle School. The fireworks display will be held behind CMS (480 Main Street) at approximately 9:30 p.m. or dusk, whichever comes first.

The Chatham Borough Police Department (CBPD) has noted that Main Street (Route 124) will be closed to all vehicle traffic, both East and West, from 10:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. during the parade and is advising the public to plan alternate routes and expect delays.

Duren noted that changes have been made for entry to the fireworks for this year's July 4th celebration; "To keep paper use to a minimum, no tickets were mailed to Borough residents this year. Borough residents can still attend at no cost by showing proof of residence at any of the points of entry. Non-borough residents can purchase tickets for $5 per person and $10 per family at the gate. Viewers can enter either on Main Street or Van Doren Avenue. All donated proceeds support the Chatham Borough Volunteer Fire Department Association and their community activities."

Chatham was vitally important in the Revolutionary War and our history has a new champion in author and genealogist, Thomas W. Lee. His new book, “The Chatham Patriot” is out, and it was a pleasure to meet him this evening, talk Chatham history and learn the touching inspiration for the book: His daughter, Sharon Lee Neuner, is a Chatham resident and he wanted to teach her children about their hometown❤️. I hope that others will enjoy this book and appreciate Chatham’s very special place in American History! Thank you, Sharon, for arranging our meeting, and to our friend and local history-buff, Joe Basralian for joining!

Happy Holi to our friends and neighbors!!🟣🟧🟢🟨🔴🟦

This ancient tradition marks the end of winter and honors the triumph of good over evil. Celebrants light bonfires, throw colorful powder called gulal, eat sweets, and dance to traditional folk music. A man, covered in the bright colors of Holi, showers the crowd with a handful of red powder during the festivities.

What a terrific weekend in Chatham! So many great moments to celebrate: the ribbon cutting and welcoming Chatham institution, TM Ward, to their new location on Main Street; attending CHS’s fantastic production of “Les Miserables” and getting to speak with and congratulate the cast; finally, Chatham Historical Society’s historic event at our train station, recreating the 1930 photograph with town residents commemorating the first electric engine, using a drone to capture the image of our 2024 residents!

I was honored to be invited by Governor Phil Murphy and First Lady, Tammy Murphy, to celebrate Women’s History Month at the Governor’s Mansion, Drumthwacket. It was inspiring to be among so many accomplished women in New Jersey in the stunning setting of Drumthwacket, which is a treasure of New Jersey and our nation’s history.

It begins and ends with the appearance of the crescent moon. If you have Muslim colleagues, friends or neighbors, the simplest way to wish them a 'Happy Ramadan' is by saying, 'Ramadan Mubarak' or 'Ramadan Kareem.'
