Study Group - The Disappointed Self

October 2 ▪︎ 2022 ▪︎ Sunday 9:30 am — 1:00 pm Pacific

Existential disappointment is no small matter, and its chronic effect on the body leads to despair and depression.

We cannot retrospectively change our parents and our childhood experiences. We cannot control the way we want the world to be, the sort of people we want in our lives, or the person we wish we were.

The importance of existential disappointment cannot be minimized. Often accompanied by pervasive, intangible yearning, its inception lies in the body, in the first developmental movement: yielding. It lies in transgenerational transmissions, in the energetics of a distressed life force waiting to be met.

The unheld baby cannot say yes to life. The unheld body lives in the absence of self, with deep grief for what could have been but never was, intractable self-doubt, and, all too often, depression.

This study group begins an inquiry into existential issues that increasingly arise in somatic practice: What is the point? When will it be over? I never wanted to come here.

Study Groups are for current students and graduates only.

It gives you the hands-on NeuroAffective Touch protocols that connect the theory covered in Modules 1, 2, and 3 with the embodied developmental blueprint. NeuroAffective Touch Study Group with Dr. Aline LaPierre 21/06/2022

This weekend's NATouch Study Group topic: Holding the Brain

https://neuroaffectivetouch.com/natouch-training/study-group-with-aline-lapierre/

We forget that the brain is an organ and that, like every other organ, it appreciates tender holding care.

Experiences of overwhelm caused by stress and trauma affect every part of the brain and can significantly impair its capacity for integration.

It is this restoration of the capacity for integration that we begin to explore.

Underlying the techniques of mindfulness, presencing, and somatic tracking, the brain, like the heart and all parts of the body, needs the holding that invites yielding and opens the capacity to receive—the neuroplasticity that allows new learning.

When we hold the cranium and brain in our hands, we support the work of differentiation and reassociation of multiple brain systems.

NATouch STUDY GROUP Sun Jan 30th - Return to Wholeness - Part VI Last of the Developmental Movement Series - Registration closes Sat midnight. 27/01/2022

This is the sixth and last installment of the Implicit Relational Movement series. This Sunday, January 30th.

As therapists, we have all faced, if not personally experienced, the deeply entrenched body-mind patterns of traumatized attachment. Given that the mother wound is often the most difficult to heal, how can we best support our clients'—and our own—return to wholeness?
