Winter’s tough. It’s cold. It gets dark early. Seasonal depression kicks in. All the things.
What makes it harder is there’s more of a struggle to pull our look together which can cause us to be even less motivated to take on life.
So how do you find a look that works for you while staying warm at the same time? You focus on the fabrics you’re wearing to maximize warmth.
Some of the best fabrics for winter are:
🧵Merino Wool. Merino helps regulate body temperature which helps keep you comfortable while transitioning from indoors to outdoors.
🧵Silk. Most people may not think silk is a good fabric for winter, but silk is a natural insulator and does wonders to keep you warm. Add in a chunky sweater for layering and your set to take on the elements.
🧵Cashmere. I had to save the best for last. Cashmere is warmer than wool, but it’s breathable and lightweight. It’s the best of both worlds so you don’t have trouble getting too hot when you’re hanging out indoors.

It’s been a minute since I’ve done a little introduction and TH has grown since the start of 2022.
To get us off on the right foot in the new year, I thought I would pause to connect and say hello to our new friends.
Hi. I’m Colleen. I’m the founder of Texturehaus. TH was started with the intention of creating beautiful spaces and wardrobes for our community.
While we had a bumpy start as we navigated the pandemic, I’m so happy we’re here today with you. TH has flourished so much because of the people involved and for that, I’m grateful.
I’m proud of the work Texturehaus has completed and I’m so excited for what’s to come. I’m looking forward to a year of growth and development, and I’m looking to make more of an impact in our community.
TH is here for every messy and beautiful moment that comes our way in 2022.

The fit of your clothes is everything.
While sometimes we are looking for that oversized look, the majority of the time, we are looking for our clothes to fit like a glove. Easier said than done, right?
Some tips on making sure you are getting the right size every time:

1. Measure around your shoulders, chest, length of arms, waist, hips and inseam. Store your measurements in a note on your phone so you can refer to them when your out and come across an impulse buy 😂
2. Check in and update these measurements from time to time.
3. Ignore size tags. There is too many variations across brands. Instead look to websites to see if a size chart is available for reference on actual measurements.

What is one of the easiest ways to play up your space while on a budget?
If you guessed thrifting, you guessed right 😁. Let’s take it a step further though. Get strategic with where you thrift. Every city has trendy/classy/not so trendy parts of town. 9 times out of 10, the people living in the neighborhood will be the ones who are consistently donating to the local thrift shop. If you are in the classy part of town, chances are the thrift shop in that area will be filled with classy pieces.
Target your thrifting based on the neighborhoods in your city so you can start curating your aesthetic to a particular look.
Looking to take it a step further? Get curious with the people working at the thrift shops. Ask them when the best donations occur so you can get more in tune with when you should hit up the store. This will minimize the “hit or miss” feeling you get when you go thrifting.
Most important. Have fun with it. Some of the prettiest places were created by mistake ✨
