Two old farts on a cycling road trip! Ben and Simon’s week long dodgy adventure

So it's been a while since I posted basically, anything, so thought I'd better have a crack.
Took the new bike for a great little jaunt from Laidley to Gatton, back to Forest Hill, and then on to Blenheim, and then back home.
I was certainly having second thoughts 2 minutes in, with thick blanket of frost coating the landscape, but like a dill, I persevered.
From Forrie onward I thawed out a bit (well, I could feel my toes) and the rest of the ride was ripper.
There were cotton fields, cabbages, carrots and broccoli, the whole valley at the moment is a picture of productivity. Credit to all the local farmers, awesome.
Also managed to catch up with the Westlander just out of Gatton, and got a toot from a grain train driver after giving him a wave near Lawes.
All this and the bike went well....great ride all-round really!!
So gang, I went for a long overdue run from Coominya to Esk and back along the BVRT last Tuesday, and what a ripper run it was. Bright sunny day, plenty of other punters enjoying the trail, with the only drawback being a 20k westerly wind.
Having said that, this particular section of the trail is reasonably sheltered, with only the first 10 ks out of Coominya facing the breeze, however the trailside scrub here forms a pretty handy windbreak, so the wind wasn't a real problem.
With the trail in such great nick, and the weather so awesome, it was just great to be out there!!
Didn't spot much wildlife at all, at least until the last half a km into Coominya, where a brown snake decided to cross the road in front of me. I just swerved to the right and let him be.
As long as I miss 'em by a fang length I'm happy with that.
Anyhoo troops that's ya lot for now, hopefully it won't be too long before the next thrilling adventure.
PS.
Pie ratings Esk - Mushroom pie 6/10. Filling tasty but pastry too crunchy and filling too hot. It certainly was not baby bears porridge.
Better safe than sorry!
