I have had a few questions about Classic qualification and points recording. For the classic you need to have fish at least eight out of the sixteen scheduled tournaments. Under the family plan if the main sponsor has eight events, they can bring anyone listed under their plan. For non-boaters paired with boaters under the FM plan you still must fish at least eight events to qualify. Currently the following are qualified for the classic:
Chris Fiegle Bret Boswell
Mark Chavis Rob Brown
Casey Griggs Corey Mrozinski
Tyler Bunch Tyler Hobbs
Steven & Steven Brann (FP) Tony Huggins
Mike Peregrine Rick Burton
Louis Golay Steven Atkins
Travis Sewell David Baiotto
Jack Reynolds Jason Woolard
Danny Senters Jr
Larry King
John Kreig
Bob Bullen
Matt & Faith Mather (FP)
We have four scheduled events left for the season; on the non-boater side we have seven that still have a chance to get qualified. On the boater side we six that can qualify If you want to know how many you need to fish e-mail or text, and I’ll let you know.
Now onto the points recording we take your best ten scores for the tournaments, so once you reach ten the next one and rest, we will drop one of your lowest scoring tournaments. So, say you won the 11th event you get 15 points and an earlier tournament you had a 4-point event. We would drop the 4 points and so basically you advance in the points by 11 points. We did this method as all anglers can’t make every event due to work, military obligations or family issues, so it’s a fair shake across the board and not just an attendance award. Hope this clears up some of the confusion.
Bass-Jons Western Branch Tournament Results – 10 Aug 2024
The weather was hot and humid for most of the day with mostly cloudy skies with little to no wind throughout the day. The rain poured as soon as we started the weight in go figure. Wow what a tough day on Branch we had eighteen boats with only five limits and five teams did not weigh. Reports had teams using everything in their arsenal to try and catch fish. The ones that were on them reported long stretches between bites. However, there are always teams that figure out the long game and bring the weights that this lake has been known for. 1st Place went to Mark & Brett with 19.92 lbs and they also had lunker of the day with a nice 5.05 lb fish. Coming in 2nd Place is Casey & Corey with 17.38 lbs with a nice anchor fish of 4.33 lbs. The 3rd Place honors went to Chris & Rob with 11.43 lbs. The Angler of the Year still has Chris Fiegle in the lead with Mark Chavis a mere five points behind, The Non-Boater Angler of the Year is Bret Boswell with Rob Brown behind the leader by seven points. The race is still very tight and with four regular events left for the season could be anyone’s game. I wish we could tell you what pattern the key for this event was, but the reports had fish taken on a variety of baits for the group. Next event is Lake Cohoon & Meade hope to see everyone there.
Bass-Jons if fishing the Western Branch event this Sat post your intents by 7PM tonight. Thanks

Bass-Jons Burnt Mills Tournament Results- 27 July 2024
Ok what a gorgeous day temps reached 82 degrees, humidity was in the low sixties and light winds made a great day on the water. However, the fishing was tough with long stretches between fish. Some teams had five by 9AM and others late afternoon. But someone always figures out the pattern and this week it was Casy & Corey taking 1st place with 14.83 lbs. Coming in 2nd place was Jim & Flynn with 13.19 lbs and they also had lunker with a nice 5.06 lb fish. Rounding out 3rd place was Mark & Bret with 12.75 lbs. The Angler of the Year has Chris Fiegle in the lead with 114 points and Mark Chavis at 107 with Casey Griggs coming in with 98 points. All three have been very consistent all year so it can get really tight at the end. For Non-Boater Angler of the Year, we have Bret Boswell take the lead over Rob Brown this week, and both have been on a roll this year so there is another race to watch. Reports at weigh in had fish taken on you name it, and it was used. The next tournament is Western Branch on 10 August hope to see everyone there.
Reminder to post intents for Burnt Mills by 7PM on 24 July. Hope to see you all out Saturday.
Just a reminder to post intents for Lake Prince by 7PM on 24 July. Hope to see everyone on the 27th.

Bass-Jons Lake Prince Tournament Results – 13 July 2024
Ok it was hot and wet day for sure, the high hopes for a killer day weren’t to be. Most of the field reported have rough time just finding fish. Only three teams had five fish limits and five only having double digits. It was so bad the pickerel wasn’t biting. Not sure if the three days of storms or dumping 3-5 inches of rain had this effect. However, as we say someone always figures them out in this case it was Mark & Bret with a nice sack for 19.31 lbs they had a five pounder and some heavy fours as well, great job. Then there was Jack & Kevin with 2nd place, bringing in a 15.77 lbs proving its nice to be on your home lake. Rounding out in 3rd place was Chris & Rob 12.56 lbs they also had a 4.09 lb kicker. The Lunker of the day went to Mike with 6.57 lb beauty. Now that we completed our 10th event the Angler of the Year is shaping up and Chris Fiegle is still holding the lead by 8 points, the 2nd place runner up is a tie between Tyler Bunch and Mark Chavis and holding 3rd place is Brandon Roundtree. Now it starts coming down to throwing out the lower events score when they reach ten events it will be nail bitter for sure. The Non-Boater Angler of the Year still has Jacob Reynolds holding the lead by a mere point, again another tie for 2nd place with Rob Brown and Bret Boswell, the 3rd place spot is Tony Huggins. Reports at the weight had fish being caught, you name it, and it was thrown. The next event is Burnt Mills on 27 July/ Hope to see you all out there. Also be looking for the results of the Suffolk Challege which is hosted by the Single / Double Trail and will have five boat teams from all the local clubs and trails participating. This event is being held on 20 July.
Reminder that Intents for Lake Prince are due by 7PM tonight. Still got some regulars not signed up.
Reminder to everyone that Intents for Lake Prince be posted by 7PM on the 10th for the 13 July 24 Tournament. Hope to see you all out there.
Bass-Jons Lake Cohoon Tournament Results – 29 June 2024
Okay it was a hot one weather wise with temps in the mid-nineties with real feel at over a 100. Lucky that we had party cloudy skies which granted some relief. The water temp started at 82 degrees and by the end of the day saw it 87 degrees. That didn’t stop the fish from biting, as we had 17 boats in double–digit range and 10 boats with 14 lbs and above. We had 21 boats for the event, paid out four places. Reports had boats catching close to 20 – 25 fish throughout the day. Dan brought in 19.76 lbs and a kicker of 5.07 lbs to take 1st place. Following close behind for 2nd place was Casy & Corey had 17.78 lbs and their kicker was 4.7 lb fish. Tyler & Travis took 3rd place with 16.56 lbs and they also have Lunker of the day with 5.20 lb fish. The 4th place went to Tim & Steve with 16.48 lbs and their big fish was 4.03. The Angler of the Year race is close between Chris Fiegle and Tyler Bunch who are only three points apart. Then Mark Chavis moved into the 3rd place slot just edging out Brandon Rountree. The Non-Boater AOY is equally close with Jacob Reynolds in the lead with Tony Huggins a mere point behind, the 3rd place spot has Rob Brown in however Bret Boswell is just a point behind. Next event is Lake Prince on 13 July hope to see everyone there.
Quick reminder that Intents for Lake Cohoon are due by 7PM tomorrow.
Just a reminder to post your intents for the Lake Cohoon tournament by 7PM on the 26th. Also, RLOS has gracefully moved their event to another lake on the 29th so it won't be as crowded as we thought. We appreciate their willingness to move to another location.
Bass-Jons Chowan River Tournament Results – 15 June 2024
Okay, first time fishing this river this far south from Shoups Landing. First it was a hot mess on the temps in the high eighties with real feel in the mid-nineties. The UV index for the day was 11 on the scale. The reports from anglers were that they caught lots of fish especially in the morning, however a good majority were just under the 14” size limit for NC. Not a bad showing for the first time most of the anglers fished this river. First Place went to Tyler & Tony with 12.89 lbs they also had lunker of the day with a nice 6.10 lb fish. Second Place was Chris & Rob with 11.37 lbs their kicker was a 3.61 lb river beauty. Third Place went to Lewis & Jerry with 11.09 lbs. The Angler of the Year race remains tight with Chris Fiegle a mere three points ahead of Tyler Bunch. The Non- Boater Angler of the Year spots shifted this event with bringing Tony Huggins into the top spot over Jacob Reynolds by just two points and not far behind is Rob Brown just three points below the leader. A great turnout for this event. Next tournament is Lake Cohoon on the 29th, hope to see everyone there.
Quick reminder, Wednesday by 7PM place your intents for Chowan River tournament.
Just a reminder to post your intents for the Chowan River tournament by 7PM on 12 June. Event is 15 June blast off from Shoups Landing.
Bass-Jons Lake Smith Tournament Results – 1 Jun 2024
Wow what an incredible day weather wise, temps in the high 70’s to low 80’s nice breeze and sunny all day long. The fish were biting as most of the field came in with limits. Reports had some anglers catching 15 to 20 bass throughout the day. Lots of small fish, however there were some decent fish brought to the scales. First place was Jim & Rich with 18.78 lbs, followed closely by Dan with 18.70. Coming in 3rd was Travis & Tyler with 16.38 lbs, they also had Lunker of the day with a nice 5.94 lb fish. The Angler of the Year is tight so far with Chris Fiegle maintaining his lead by a mere 4 points. Right behind him is Tyler Bunch and in the 3rd Place spot is Brandon Rountree. The next tournament is on the Chowan River on 15 June. Hope to see you all there.
One day left to Post Intents for Lake Smith Tournament.
All remember to post your intents to fish the Lake Smith event by 7PM on the 29th.
Bass-Jons Perquimans River Tournament Results – 18 May 2024
Well, the weather didn’t cooperate with rain throughout the day, however, didn’t stop 11 boats from braving the conditions to fish. For the most part anglers reported catching large numbers of fish but getting the 14” minimum length requirement presented a challenge. This is fast becoming one of the clubs’ favorite rivers to fish with countless cypress trees and structures. The team of Chris Fiegle & Rob Brown took 1st place with 13.56 lbs. Second Place went to Steven & Steven Brann with 11.78 lb they also had linker of the next with nice 4.09 lb fish. Coming in 3rd Place was Tyler Bunch & Tony Huggins with 11.26 lbs. The Angler of the Race is shaping up nicely with six events in the books, Chris Fiegle is in the number spot with a good lead, Tyler Bunch isn’t far behind the leader and Brandon Rountree in the 3rd place slot. Our next event is Lake Smith on 1 June.
Bass-Jons Lake Meade Tournament Results – 4 May 2024
All week the weather was warm, sunny with mild nights and hopes for a killer tournament were envisioned. However, a cold front came late Friday that dropped temps by twenty degrees with 99 % cloud cover that carried over into Sat. This put a damper on some of the expected high weight bags that should have come to the scales. Although reports had some fish taken by bed-fishing it was nowhere near what was expected, with some teams struggling to get their limits. The air temps started off in the high fifties and remained there until about 1PM and then quickly rose to 73 degrees, the water temp was 71 degrees. All that considered didn’t stop Mark & Bret from taking 1st Place with 19.97 lbs they also had lunker of the day with a nice 5.83 lb fish. Then right behind them was Brandon & Jacob in 2nd place with 16.49 lbs and they also had a nice kicker with a 5.79 fish. The 3rd place team of Chris & Rob came in with 14,44 lbs. Reports had fish taken on spinner & chatter baits and Senko’s. The Angler of the Year and Non-Boater AOY race as expected early in the season keeps changing from event to event. So, Chris Fiegle takes the lead again as top angler and he’s been consistent, he would further ahead in the standings but had to miss a tourney. The Non-Boater AOY is now Jacob Reynolds and he’s having a pretty good season to date. Looking at the stats for AOL it’s anyone’s game for the top six. Next event is the Perquimans River.

Just a reminder to post your intent to fish the Lake Meade Tourney, 7PM Wed, hope to see Sat.

Bass-Jon’s: 20-Pound Club updated April 20, 2024
There are a lot of good anglers in the Hampton Roads area and several of them are Bass-Jon members. 5-fish limits heavier than 20 pounds caught during tournaments deserve special recognition. There are a lot of limits in the 19, 18, and 17 pound ranges, but a 20-pound limit is an achievement.

Bass-Jons Western Branch Tournament Results – 20 April 2024
Okay the tournament setup for this time of year was on track, we had warm weather all week, the moon was almost full and dogwoods in bloom. Yep, it’s the full swing of spawn season. Although most of the field said they saw lots of beds and those with fish were not biting. That wasn’t the case for everyone, and reports did have plenty of fish taken just fishing. However, the 1st place winners this week Larry & Jason had 21.26 lbs with a 5.15 kicker said they benefited from both methods of fishing. Coming in 2nd place was Mike & Chris with 20.58 and they also had lunker of the day with a nice 6.73 lb fish. Rounding out 3rd Place was Tyler & Tony with 18.06 lbs. Plenty of 5, 4 and too many 3 lbs fish to count were brought to the scales. Seems the pig & jig, chatter bait, spinner bait was predominating baits of choice. The Angler of the Year is shaping up already with three events in the books. This tournament brings in Tyler Bunch to the top spot followed by Chris Fiegle and Casey Griggs,
