Last night we joined ~650 others in celebrating Indwell's 50th Anniversary. Congratulations and thank you for your unwavering commitment to providing dignified supportive housing to our community members. We are honoured to work alongside you.
Terri, James, and Hy attended the Mayor's Speaker Series with Jennifer Keesmaat on Monday. Thank you to Mayor Marianne Meed Ward and Deputy Mayor Kelvin Galbraith for hosting an engaging evening not only for those in our industry but the public as well. It was great to hear Jennifer's ideas for built form models to explore. Thank you as well to Burlington's new City Manager, Hassaan Basit, for sharing your optimistic vision for the future of Burlington!
Bringing life back to an existing building is often a challenge, but we worked through it and are proud of the results!!
Posted • Sacajawea’s Steven St. Apartments are nearing completion and the beautiful artwork by indigenous beadwork artist Naomi Smith has been installed on the spandrels. I stopped by at golden hour yesterday to take a peek at the progress. We love how it is all coming together!
In total, there are 15 apartments in the former Pearl Co. factory, with community space in the basement. And there is also an adjacent new duplex, in blue. There 17 homes, a mix of one bedroom and two bedroom, will provide much needed affordable housing. The units are designed to passive house and both buildings will not use fossil fuels! Low carbon just makes sense for Sacajawea and the tenants they will be supporting.
The design of the project was shared with Invizij and . Rezoning was by .team, housing consulting by TWC. Stay tuned for an announcement of the grand opening in the coming weeks!
It's official! 🥳
Thursday was the ceremonial groundbreaking for Keaton's Place - Paul Paletta Children's Hospice, in partnership McMaster Childrens' Hospital, the Province of Ontario, and the City of Hamilton
This site is the perfect location for this critical project.
Landwise is honoured to continue to support this community project.
Now, onwards with planning approvals!
Posted • Today at the office we celebrated this guy's birthday with a tea party. 🥳
For the record, we didn't really have a choice. He's given us about 7️⃣ months notice.
You see, he's a big birthday celebrator. And I love that. Because it is truly a reflection of who Edward is!
7️⃣ months ago, he joined me as a business partner, taking on the role as Vice President. It was one of the best decisions I have ever made. 💥
I had grown T. Johns Consulting so much that I was getting to the point where it was getting impossible to manage and to ensure we kept our level of service. Between the business and my community volunteer time, I was 24/7. 🥴
Since he's started, week by week, I can feel my workload lightning. I call it working part-time at about 40 to 60 hours 😉
The evolution of T. Johns Consulting to Landwise is a dream come true. 💭
Edward, thank you for being you! 🙏
Now, onwards, and upwards, as we look the next 🔟 years in the eye as we roll up our sleeves and take on our next level of growth.
Cheers to birthdays & Edward thanks for reminding us of their importance 😉
We love our re-adaptive projects.👏
This .ca one is a huge win. The re-use of St. Mark's church for .
The photos are stunning 🤩
Posted • St. Marks Place in Kitchener is our latest affordable & supportive housing project with .ca. Today is Hy's first day as a full-time Planning Technician at Landwise! We are thrilled that she will be continuing her career with our team.
"During my co-op at Landwise, I really enjoyed immersing myself in the work environment and learning from everyone. In my first year as full-time, I look forward to learning more about being a planning technician and how to effectively communicate with other consultants and clients. I’m excited to be a Landwise team member!" - Hy
Today we celebrate the work anniversary of one of Landwise's rising stars. Katelyn started with us in 2017 and since then has proven day by day her passion and professionalism for her work and her community. Katelyn has consistently demonstrated her acumen and ability to grow and develop from Junior Planner to Senior Planner. She's calm under pressure and always the consummate professional.
Today we celebrate Katelyn. 🧡🩶
We wished Titus good luck today as he heads off tomorrow on his big adventure. 👏👋🙌
He and his friends are hiking Vancouver 's West Coast Trail. 🚶♂️
Their hike is a strenuous 7️⃣5️⃣ km multi-day beach and forest trail in the Pacific Rim National Park Reserve on the coast of Vancouver Island in beautiful British Columbia, Canada.
Stay tuned into our stories as we follow their progress!

Our Planning Technician, Hy, presented her capstone project this week for the Urban and Regional Planning Technician - GIS program at Mohawk College. These are some incredible images from her group's project. Congratulations Hy, we're so proud of you!
Edward, Katelyn, and James sat on the juries for other presentation sessions throughout the week alongside industry colleagues. Great job students!
Landwise has long been a proud supporter of Mohawk's Planning Technician students. We sponsor the Planning Graphics Scholarship and have hired many co-op students and graduates from this excellent program.
All great projects are built on strong foundations.
Our team's different views of the yesterday. Even Winston had his safety squints on😑

Happy International Women's Day! To celebrate, let's highlight some achievements of the seven incredible women on the Landwise team:
~

She's driven to improve the world around her through her impressive eye for urban design.

Ursula (Office Administrator) // Although much of Ursula's work happens behind the scenes, her dedication is felt throughout the team. She played a vital role in the logistics of our rebrand, just as she does in keep us running on a daily basis! Her dedication doesn't stop at the door - she's always available when her new granddaughter needs her.
~
Chloe (Junior Planner) // Chloe completed the Master of Planning Program at Dalhousie in 2023, recently became a Candidate RPP, and is our representative on the OPPI West Lake Ontario District Committee. She is taking on the world of Development Planning in strides and has a bright future ahead of her in the industry.

Last year, she was on the Kemp Hospice fundraising committee and led the St. Matthew's House project over the finish line, which will provide 15 affordable units for seniors. She is also the proud mom of a new baby girl!
~

Landwise is thrilled to be the Backstage Sponsor for the YWCA Hamilton Women of Distinction Awards again this year.
♀️
Our sponsorship means that 10 young trailblazers can attend the event, with backstage passes to boot. They receive VIP treatment, including meet and greets with the nominees.
♀️
We are firm believers in the “see it, be it” philosophy that underpins this event, where we will witness firsthand and be inspired by the strength in woman power. 💪♀️💞
I am truly humbled to be included in the nominee group for the RBC Canadian Women Entrepreneur Awards.
After 3 decades in the development/building sector, I started T. Johns Consulting, recently rebranded as Landwise. This was in 2014, just weeks before turning 54, when all around me, my friends and colleagues were mapping out their retirement plans. Taking that leap of faith off the cliff is the best move I have ever made. Full Stop. My company, now with business partner, Edward John MRTPI, is my passion, both the team and the work we are doing.
Thank you for the nomination from powerhouse Carmela Trombetta. I am in awe of your invaluable contribution to our community.
Terri Johns
Enjoy your day! We're back at our desks tomorrow.
Just 2️⃣, yes, just 2️⃣ short weeks ago....

Yesterday was a good day!!
Another step forward for this critical community service, Keaton's Place - Paul Paletta's Children's Hospice.
We have been working with Dr. Bob Kemp Hospice since early 2016 on the overall feasibility as well as site selection. It has been quite the journey. Thrilled that an appropriate site has been found and that the City of Hamilton is partnering to bring the dream to fruition.
