This Saturday, July 20th we are proud to present an Exclusive set by one of the most accomplished figures in dance music. World renowned producer, dj and DMC Champion Orlando Voorn has agreed to create a set exclusively for our show and we couldn't be more honored and excited! Orlando is the embodiment of all we believe in House music. His approach to producing is Pure and creative. His stance on the industry is a breath of fresh air. His vast experience as a DJ and producer, his volume of releases, and his dedication to music and creativity over commercial gain and trends make him a standout figure and hero in the world of electronic dance music. His influence on the electronic music scene is vast and multifaceted, and his contributions continue to shape the landscape of electronic music.

Orlando Voorn, a Dutch DJ and electronic music producer, has been a significant figure in the electronic dance music scene. His journey began at the age of 12, winning a scratch competition at Amsterdam’s “Club Flora Palace”. His talent was soon recognized by Dutch radio host Robin Albers, leading him to secure the first place in the Dutch DMC DJ Championship in 1986 and 1987.

In the late 80s, Orlando ventured into music production with his first sequencer. His debut project, “Hurt em Bad” under the alias “Fixomatic”, was a successful old school hip hop record. His unique ability to blend sounds, rhythms, and key structures set him apart in the industry.

Orlando’s collaboration with Steve Clisby from the band “American Gypsies” was a game-changer. Clisby taught Voorn chord structures, transforming his approach from sampling music to creating original compositions using keys, bass lines, and pianos.

Under the alias “Frequency”, Orlando released popular tracks such as “Where is Your Evidence”, “Kiss the Sky”, and “Industrial Metal” on the classic label Lower East Side Records. These tracks led to his collaboration with Detroit techno pioneer Juan Atkins, resulting in the classic track “Game One” on Atkins’ label “Metroplex”. This track was later reprised on Voorn’s imprint “Nightvision” double CD Compilation in 1996.

Orlando’s collaborations extend to other Detroit techno pioneers, including Derrick May on his imprint “Fragile” under the alias “Complex” with the track “Midi Merge”, and Kevin Saunderson on his legendary Detroit label “KMS” under the alias “Fix” with the hit track “Flash”. These collaborations have not only cemented his place in the music industry but also contributed to the richness of the techno genre.

Orlando’s versatility is reflected in his numerous aliases, each representing a unique facet of his musical persona. These include Balance, Baruka, Basic Bastard, Complex, Defence, Dope Dog, Fix, Fixomatic, Format, Frequency, Galaxy, The Judge, Limited Edition, Living Room, Maniax Tra # # #, Mute, The Nighttripper, PB 2000, Pl***oy, Progress, Solar, The Stalker, Tank, Trigger, Ultra, Urban Nature, X-It, and Orlando Voorn. He also collaborated with Blake Baxter under the alias “The Ghetto Brothers” to produce timeless classics like “Ghetto Disco” and “Ghetto Blues”. Mentioning all Orlando’s ever-increasing productions would take a great deal of time and space, however we encourage you to delve into them and immerse yourself in the sounds, ranging from House to techno, to breaks, Drum n Bass, Hip Hop and much more.

Orlando’s influence extends to inspiring Deadmau5, who remixed Paco di Bango. His music continues to reach new audiences, demonstrating his enduring relevance in the industry.

Orlando Voorn’s journey in the music industry is marked by his originality, versatility, and dedication to his craft. His influence on the electronic music scene is vast, and his contributions continue to shape the landscape of electronic music. His influence is being fully recognized as techno history is being carefully annotated. His dedication to the music, not for commercial gain, but for the love of the craft, sets him apart in the industry and his work continues to inspire and influence many upcoming artists. His story is a testament to his passion for music and his unwavering dedication to his craft.

He has a slew of remixes and projects which just. keep. coming! He's recently done a remix of Running Up That Hill (A Deal with God) by Kate Bush. He recently released "Back to Basic", a soulful House album featuring the Late Amp Fiddler (RIP) and has just released the "No Cellphones" EP on Kompakt which you Definitely need to hear!
