I have been trying to use this time for stillness. sitting with my thoughts and paying attention to areas that might need some healing. These past few days I have been thinking a lot about compassion and empathy.
"Other people have it worse, be grateful" has become a mantra for myself and many. Why are we withholding compassion for ourselves.? Shouldn't there be space for all our feelings to be acknowledged? I have been working on ways to shift this narrative and am so happy I came across this talk by Brene Brown discussing comparative suffering. Very eye opening and always insightful. Have a listen!

In ancient times the winter solstice was the new year celebration. The sun takes a rest so it may rise stronger with every coming day. A death and a rebirth. A time to let go and plant new seeds. Lucky for me this day coincides with my birthday.(the photo is from my First birthday🥳) This year I am ready to shed the old skin. Old belief systems and focus on the light that’s coming. I’ve been speaking to a lot of friends lately about what it means to have some sort of daily meditation/self-care practice. We are so lucky we live in an age where we have all kinds of healing at our fingertips but where to begin can feel overwhelming. I know it was for me in the beginning. My advice is to start small with something you can easily commit to. Every morning or before bed find a quiet space and begin with 5 minutes of deep breathing. If you need a focal point, I find it helps to light a candle and set your gaze on the flame. There is something so soothing and peaceful about the flickering lights that automatically put your mind at ease. Play around with what works for you and enjoy the process. There is no right or wrong, just start.

My path to Reiki and healing began a few years ago when I went through a period of intense loss. I felt like the universe was testing me and I decided to take some time to heal and explore. I was exploring different healing modalities and doing kundalini yoga when I started to notice a shift. I Wanted to go deeper and I had heard so much about Reiki that I decided to give it a shot. I felt its grounding effects immediately. A sense of peace and tranquility came to me after my session and I realized how rare it was to receive a compassioned touch and how healing that energy can be.
I decided to learn this tool so that I would be able to help others. Shortly after my first session, I received my Reiki 1 and 2 at Maha Rosa and completed a Reiki mentorship with Reiki Master and Maha Rose Founder, Lisa Levine. More recently receiving my Access Bars® certification.
Reiki is a hands-on (and sometimes hands-off) healing technique that directly translates to “universal life force energy” used to help facilitate physical and emotional healing. This work is gentle and relaxing, involving the channeling of energy through hand placements throughout the body to help activate the natural healing process.
Access Bars® are 32 points on the head that when lightly touched release what doesn’t serve you, elevates consciousness, and quiets the mind.
In the chaos of everyday city life, it is so important to take pause and listen to your heart, mind, and body and nurture it.
