Here is the “After” of the cozy farmhouse kitchen. Forever known to me as my Covid kitchen since it was started just before Covid hit last year. Improving function and adding more storage was key for this small space. Adding cabinetry to flank the stove, making use of the high ceilings and relocating the sink were just some of the improvements made. It was also important to my clients that it tie into the rest of their charming 100-year old home and create a farmhouse feel in the city. There’s nothing I love more than the combination of crisp blue and white cabinetry paired with warm wood tones.

One of the main steps in our process is the Design Presentation, where all the elements of the space are designed up front. This ensures all design decisions are made prior to construction and avoids the “design as you go” trap that many homeowners fall into when renovating. Renovations can be stressful, but eliminating piecemeal design decisions can certainly make the experience a lot more efficient and enjoyable for everyone involved. Proof in point - this cozy farmhouse kitchen design plan. Construction was started days before the first lockdown last March and was able to keep ticking since everything was approved and on site before Covid changed everything.
