Hi!
It’s been a bit since we have posted anything new. We have been using our Instagram account more. Between our own projects, work, school, kids events and special customer projects…we have slacked in keeping you all updated!
These are just a few of the things we have been working on this last year.

Reward the try
When learning new things or changing our habits, we sometimes feel like we should be able to skip steps & jump right to mastering it.
If we want the new skills to stay longterm, we need to note our little steps towards progress.
Geronimo has been a great teacher for this. Each little step builds on the last.

In 2021, the farthest a product traveled was Australia. Numerous wholesale orders were sent to boutiques and I partnered with other Hoosier makers to provide curated gift boxes. (Would you like to see a Mother’s Day box??)
What has 2022 brought already? I have shipped to 20 states in January. Now if only I could fit in the mail to go to all the fun cities too.

Big Lake Trading Post LLC is a brand built for the kid in all of us. The company team consists of John, Kayla (me) and our children, Gianna and Johnny. We are a family of outdoor enthusiasts, adventure seekers, explorers with a passion for building and crafting. My husband and I started this company for our children first and then it has morphed into something bigger. While we firmly believe every child deserves the advantages and joy that comes with an outdoor lifestyle, this is a primary focus for our family, we also wanted to share our talent for crafting a unique home.
With our adventure shirts and Kits for Kids our main goal is to make it easier and more exciting for your children and you to go outside and play. To break down the barriers and fear of nature and help you see the magic within it. You will see our children in many of our posts, they love the outdoors and are excited about helping other kids get outside. By the time they were each 3 months old they had already been on a minimum of 1 hike with us, strapped to my chest or in the carrier on their dads back and enjoying the sensory excitement that only nature can give. Now they are climbing trees, swimming in the lake, fishing, hiking, riding bikes or using their imagination with sticks and would probably spend 24 hours outside if they could. For us nature is not a separate lifestyle that we have to plan into our schedule, it is a part of us and without it we would go stir crazy. Please do not think you have to do exactly as we do, but instead go at your own pace and even if you do have to schedule that time in nature, know it will be well worth it. Nature allows us the FREEDOM to be WILD, to explore without limitations, to imagine without rules, to unwind from the everyday life stresses. We urge you to follow along with us, explore with us and see the magic of nature that we see.
When it comes to our wreaths, door decor and wood crafts, we wanted to do something we had always talked of doing. It has been a personal dream of mine to sell items I make with my own hands at markets. I never thought I would sell online but why not go big. We did not want to regret not sharing our talents with others and hope that the items we build and make bring you as much joy as they bring us when we make them. Who knows what we will get into in the future.
On another level we want to inspire those around us and across our nation and world to get themselves and their kids outside. Go make something that brings you joy and if you want to try your hand at selling said items...go for it! The answer is always no if you don’t ask the question.
