Please join us for our annual Take Back the Night Yoga Event - led by our very own Shivali Bhatt (DDS 2020) - on Wednesday Nov 7th from 6-7:30pm in Room 136 University Center (near Audiology)! It’s a donation-based yoga class, followed by tea and refreshments. All donations will go to the Take Back the Night Foundation, a non-profit organization with the mission of ending sexual, relationship, and domestic violence. Thank you to our amazing group of bartenders (Dr. Booth, Dr. Baliwas, Mandy Matsuhara, Dr. Tiller, Dr. Gonzalez, Dr. Lee, Dr. Konni Tittle, Dr. Ken Tittle, and Dr. Courtin) for a job well done last night at our 2018 "So You Think You Can Bartend" fundraiser!

A big thank you to everyone who came out as well to support this good cause.

In total, everyone helped raise $692 for Take Back the Night, topping last year's record! 🎉

Next up for : 2nd year student Hannah Fox- Hannah is an active member of the UOP community, serving as the ADEA (American Dental Education Association) rep and is on the curriculum committee for the DDS class of 2019. Prior to dental school, she earned a Master’s in Stem cell biology and continues to share her love for science as a Biochemistry tutor for first year students. If you can’t find her at one of her many activities, you may be able to catch her playing foosball in the student lounge or pursuing her baking hobby. She has even made wedding cakes for friends in the past! Cheers to Hannah on this !

Happy Monday, all! Hoping everyone had the chance to take in some sun over the weekend. At our recent Endo Panel discussion, endo faculty and alums Drs. Moore, Fathi, Quang, and Ravandoust joined students and faculty for a discussion about what challenges and benefits they have gained as women in endodontics and the paths that have shaped them throughout their careers and lives.

Over the past academic year, the Mentorship advancement committee spearheaded by Grace Chung (DDS 2018) has organized different specialty panels to allow students to get exposed to faculty from a different perspective than in the classroom or the clinic.

Today on International Women's Day, and every day, UOP AAWD celebrates the achievements of women, especially our female dental mentors and colleagues, who continue to pave paths for women in dentistry. Here's to the women in our lives who inspire us to do our best every day!

Most people have heard of the popular hashtag: or WomanCrushWed. AAWD would like to introduce our new feature — Women Crushing It Wednesday!

Here we’ll highlight women in our own community and celebrate their many achievements!

To start, our first is Dr. Lisa Itaya, our very own faculty advisor for AAWD. Dr. Itaya is an associate professor and the Group Practice Leader for 3C. A 1998 Dugoni grad, she has served in many leadership roles in the school prior to becoming a GPL such as being Director of Emergency Services and Clinic Director of the Advanced General Dentistry clinic. In her free time, she enjoys crafting, bowling, and has even made a ukulele. Cheers to Dr. Itaya!

Throughout this week, AAWD will be collecting donations to support those affected by Hurricane Irma, Hurricane Harvey, and the North Bay fires. Please stop by our table in Molinari Hall during lunch if you would like to make a donation to Habitat for Humanity and the Redwood Credit Union Community Fund for these efforts. Thank you!

AAWD and DETOX present Take Back the Night Yoga Event! Entry to the event is free, but we will be accepting donations for Take Back the Night, a non-profit organization with the mission of ending sexual, relationship, and domestic violence.

The event is on Wednesday, October 25 from 5:30-6:30 PM in Room 514A. We encourage all participants to bring their own yoga mat if they have one (supplies are limited) and to wear pink in support of Breast Cancer Awareness Month.

AAWD is organizing a trip to a Giants vs Dodgers game at ATT ballpark for next Tuesday, September 12th! If you'd like to be part of this fun filled adventure fill out the following google form to confirm you are coming.

Students: The event is only open to AAWD members. Tickets are $10. If you would like to become an AAWD member, please pay an additional $10 for chapter dues. You can pay for your ticket and/or dues by Venmo-ing our Treasurer, Madee Pasimio (), or emailing her at [email protected].

These workshops are open to members and non-members alike, and would be a great opportunity to get some one-on-one help from third years, and to have some of your questions about Axium, competencies, and clinic in general answered. AAWD Fundraiser: So You Think You Can Bartend?

A HUGE thank you to our guest bartenders and everyone who supported this event last night! We raised a total of $580 for Take Back the Night, which is really amazing. :) Great job everyone!

The American Association of Women Dentists (AAWD) invites all students, faculty, and staff to join us in our "Spring Cleaning with a Meaning" clothing drive! This is the perfect opportunity to clean out your closets and give back to the Bay Area Women & Children's Center, which focuses on the needs and issues of low-income families, children, and women in our multi-ethnic, inner-city neighborhood.

We are accepting clean, gently used clothing for both men and women. Professional clothing and shoes are preferred.

We will be tabling in Molinari Hall during lunch time and before Thursday night clinic through Friday, June 2nd, so please stop by and drop off any donations. Additionally, you can hang up your donations on the coat rack at the bottom of the stairwell on the first floor.

Thank you to everyone who came out for our AAWDxDETOX Take Back the Night Yoga Fundraiser! We hope you had fun and thanks to your and DETOX's generous support, we raised a total of $330 to donate to the Take Back the Night Foundation. We will be sending out a list of resources for patients or people you know who may be experiencing sexual and/or domestic violence and abuse, so stay tuned for that as well. Happy Breast Cancer Awareness month! Thank you everyone who contributed to our bakesale!

Huge thank you to everyone who donated to our Spring Cleaning with a Meaning drive! We collected a record number of clothes, shoes, and other items that will go a long way towards helping men, women, and children in need. When the grateful woman at the Bay Area Women and Children's Shelter asked me who the donations were from, I was extremely proud to say the Pacific Dugoni Family!
