Early the next day, all suspects were located. Three were arrested and the fourth was found dead. On February 18, 2003, Michael Shannon pleaded guilty to killing Deputy Baker. I would like to thank everyone for making primary election day for my campaign - our campaign - a success to re-elect me as Marion County Sheriff. Even though I was unopposed, it still was humbling to see people step up and work at the polls, put out our signs, and support us financially to keep the campaign on a path for a successful November.
I was told we put forth the largest group of volunteers working on behalf of our Democratic candidates. Please know that I do not take your support, your money, your hard work, or your vote for granted. I will finish this first term strong so that I may go into a second term with your help to continue serving our community.
I sincerely thank all of you for your help and I look forward to making it a grand slam in November!
