The Resurrection and Ascension of Christ’ (1925), by Dutch artist and one-time resident of Seward, Jan van Empel, serves as the reredos (artwork above and behind the altar of a church) at St. Peter’s Episcopal Church. The public is invited to attend an open house event on Saturday, May 25th (Memorial Day Weekend) from 9am-4pm to view this extraordinary and unique piece of art. There will be presentations and refreshments in the undercroft, as well.

Bandannas are on sale for $20 each and T-shirts for $30. All proceeds go toward the purchase of art supplies for Seward and Moose Pass schools.

First Friday art opening (Mermaid Grotto) this Friday, May 3rd. On display will be block printed bandanas and t-shirts made by Seward High School art students with the guidance of master artist

The Seward Poetry Festival has launched and you won't want to miss the array of opportunities to connect and be inspired including the main event on Saturday, April 27, 2024 at 2PM.
Join us for a special Student Showcase and Poetry Reading featuring guest poet, Sandra Wassilie who has an amazing connection to Alaska and our beloved Seward.
The reading will also feature local writers and poets sharing new work, special literary surprises and more. The event will be in the Seward Community Library and Museum and you won't want to miss it!
Stop by the Elementary School on April 25th, from 5:30 to 6:30 pm (not 7:00 pm) to see what these talented kids have created!

Job Title: Non-Profit Administrative Assistant
Seward Arts Council is seeking an Administrative Assistant to bolster our vibrant arts community by providing essential support, including grant research, writing, and procurement.
Responsibilities:
-Offer comprehensive administrative support, encompassing scheduling, communications, and event coordination.
-Attend monthly board meetings and aid the board of directors with scheduling and materials distribution.
-Champion advocacy efforts and assist in program evaluation.
-Conduct thorough grant research, compose compelling grant proposals, facilitate grant procurement processes and grant management.
Skills & Requirements:
-Minimum of 2 years of work experience, with nonprofit experience preferred.
-Dedication to our mission and the nonprofit sector.
-Exceptional customer service and communication abilities.
-Proficiency in using Google Drive and associated programs; familiarity with databases and email marketing platforms preferred..
Eligible: Seward or Moose Pass Residen
Location: Remote, Contract
Salary Range: DOE, $20-25 per hou
Part-Time: 20-25 hours per month

Today, we closed the curtain on our final public performance of 'Alice In Wonderland'. Thank you, Seward, for supporting our talented student actors and crew! We are honored to have performed for you and forever grateful for your applause.
We look forward to two more private assembly performances tomorrow for Seward Elementary, Seward Middle School, Hope Schools, Cooper Landing, and Moose Pass!
