Silver Spring Catholic connects young adults living in the Silver Spring, MD area with Jesus Christ through small group faith-study meetings, retreats and days of recollection, and social events held at local churches.
We hope you are all enjoying the last few weeks of summer! We are still on break, but or fall series starts up on Monday September 9.
We'll be doing a bible study this fall on the Acts of the Apostles. Come join us to read the bible and have fellowship with other local Catholics.

Thanks to all who joined us yesterday for the scavenger hunt at the National Gallery of Art!
We had a fun time trying to find art works to match challenges like "Find a piece of art that looks like someone in your group" and "Find a modern painting that looks like it could be an abstract version of a popular meme".
We'll be taking a break until September 9 when we start a fall bible study on the book of Acts.

UPDATE: The park service website says the Maryland Heights trail might be closed on June 22. If so, we'll instead hike the Loudoun Heights trail (link). What: Hike at Harpers....
We're pushing back the departure time for our hike on June 22 to 8:30am. This is to allow for you to attend the 7:30am daily mass at St. Bernadette's if you would like to do that.
Also, it looks like the Maryland Heights trail might be closed on June 22. If so, then we will hike the Loudoun Heights instead.

Exciting news!
With joy beyond imagining, I am writing to share with you the news that the canonization of Pier Giorgio Frassati will take place in 2025!
The official announcement was made by Cardinal Marcello Semeraro, prefect of the Dicastery for the Causes of Saints, during the 18th National Assembly of Italian Catholic Action, in Sacrofano, Italy. "I would like to tell you that the canonization of Blessed Pier Giorgio Frassati is now clear on the horizon and looming for the next jubilee year," he said. He was then interrupted by a long applause!
I know you will join me in prayers of thanksgiving that this event we have prayed for is becoming a reality. How beautiful that this news comes on the tenth anniversary of the canonization of Pope Saint John Paul II who beatified Pier Giorgio in 1990. As it is so often said, God's timing is perfect!
The canonization date has not yet been announced but you can be sure I will keep you posted.
May future Saint Frassati intercede for you in a special way today and always!
