With an almost identical frame to another chair I reupholstered in the last couple of months, this antique chair also needed the seat to be removed and resprung and rebuilt once the frame was strengthened and made sturdy once more.
My clients loved the original emerald velvet and wanted to find something similar, so they found this rich, deep fir green velvet along with the beautifully matched decorative braid trim from .

One of the springs in this armchair was broken and needed to be replaced, so the opportunity was taken to have the chair reupholstered at the same time. Looking fresh for my very pleased clients.

This old chair needed quite the uplift as the springs had sprung in the wrong direction and burst through the bottom! So, before much else could be done, the whole seat was removed, resprung and rebuilt from the bottom up. Comfort restored, and smart, new threads.

Before I start posting this year's projects, here is one I hadn't posted from last year. Window seat cushions for a lovely hideaway in Northern Ireland.
The chosen fabric was Westray by in Sienna and Peony colourways, with tonal velvet piping.

These types of leather dining chairs tend to crack and peel a lot. I've reupholstered many. Rest assured that they can look good as new once again.
My clients chose Krayola fabric in Charcoal, and were very happy with the results.

A pair of Froxfield 750 wingback chairs, still in their original upholstery from 1956, have been completely stripped down to frame, sanded back to the beech show-wood and waxed, given new seat springs, rebuilt with new hessian, foam and wadding, and finally covered in 'Lovely' velvet fabric in Slate colourway.

A large, grey ottoman bought for a bargain on Marketplace. My client wanted to brighten it up with this beautiful blue and white striped fabric found at , adding in a pop of deep pink piping to make it sing.

It's always worth looking for second hand bargains of quality, classic furniture which can then be updated to fit in with your decor. If the frame is of a certain quality, it can be reupholstered again and again.

I first recovered this Laura Ashley armchair in 2016, and I've been trusted to refurbish it again 😁

This time my clients have chosen a wonderful, emerald green velvet - Plush Velvet, in Evergreen, from . I love this colour!

A good quality chair frame can be reupholstered many times. This is the fourth outfit for this chair. Well worth it if you have a comfy, well-made chair you can't bear to part with.

I love how this mid-century armchair, originally made in the late 1950s, has turned out in its new upholstery, having been stripped down to the very well made, beautiful frame (see previous post).

It is now covered in wonderful Sherpa boucle, Bobble Hat colourway.

The legs were sanded and re-stained to a smoked walnut shade which works so well with the fabric.

Hi everyone, sorry it's been a while but I am here 👋🏼

I've been working on on this lovely chaise longue - a bit of a learning curve* which took me a little longue* than usual. But keeping myself busy has been helping to chaise* the blues away since my daughter left for uni last month.

A little bit of interior repair was needed to fix the bit of the frame which had collapsed inwards, and the broken filigree wood trim was also repaired and re-stained. Then for lots of measured pleating, and more pleating, and accurate stitching together of pleating. Then a shed-load of buttons made and arranged in formation like marching soldiers.

Reupholstered in velvet - Maestro 3775, Inside Job colourway.

Hello 👋🏼 just to let you know that im still here busying myself with client projects big and small.
I'm waiting on a few in situ photos, but in the meantime, here is my own sofa - recently reupholstered to replace all of the webbing, strengthen the seat platform and replace the leather (and previously recovered seat cushions) with sumptuous Passione 2.0 printed velvet from .
-
This sofa was bought from over 20 years ago and has served us really well. It has survived our kids diving onto it, jumping on it, scrapping on it. It has been well loved and this was showing with the leather wearing through in places. I recovered the worn-out seat covers a number of years ago. It was losing some of its comfort and the seat platform had started to sag on one end.
-
Having a good quality, solid hardwood frame has meant that this sofa can live on for another 20-odd years and beyond, having had its MOT, service and new clothing.
-
Now that I've said all of this, I have to say that I cannot take on large sofas like this for client projects as I sadly can't accommodate the size in my workspace.
