Champkids encourages children and teens to develop their inner champion. Among kids’ competitions, Champkids is uniquely focused on art and creativity.
THE STORY BEHIND CHAMPKIDS
At the age of 8, Allena Kim was inspired by her mother's childhood story. Her mom shared with her that they shared the same passion for art however most competitions overseas were done live where you need to complete the artwork live within a certain time limit, judging and winners were announced on the same day. Confidence, grit, determination, and a winning mindset to
constantly improve oneself can be developed at a young age. Having numerous disappointments of not hearing from the organizers of the mail-in art competitions she participated in and there aren't any local opportunities for live competitions available. Allena decided to start her own company at age 10 focusing on developing inner champions in kids through live competition. She created an opportunity for kids and teens to create, compete, and win prizes. She did fundraising from local businesses and the community to sponsor the event. Now a new generation can be recognized and rewarded for their artistic skills—and have a blast at fun educational venues. Allena recognized that there are a lot of kids who are less fortunate and did not have the opportunity to participate. She has partnered with Big Brother and Big Sisters of Long Island, giving opportunities to those kids in need to same equal opportunity to participate in Champkids events at no cost.
