Another band that we have been championing from their first demo, In Vain have never failed to impress as they have honed their progressive death metal over the course of four albums so the recent announcement that their latest effort, "Solemn", will be released by Indie Recordings in April was cause for excitement. As we could not wait until then, we will be playing the first single "Season Of Unrest" on this weeks show and it bodes well for what is to come as it contains all of the qualities we have come to expect while still showing some development in their overall sound.

SEASON OF UNREST OUT NOW!
We are happy to announce that Season of Unrest is now available on all platforms. This is the first single from our upcoming album, Solemn, to be released in spring 2024.

Songwriter Johnar Håland shares his insights: “A tune that's got it all - a harmonic and groovy verse blending seamlessly with a catchy, sing-along worthy chorus." Bassist Alexander Bøe adds: “This song is packed with emotion and meaning. It's got a progressive edge, yet its catchy components make it effortlessly singable. The vocals truly steal the show."

Lead vocalist Sindre Nedland delves into the personal resonance of the single, stating: “With all the songs we ́ve done through the years, this is the one that holds the most meaning to me. It contains extremely personal lyrics written at a low point of my life. The lyrics combined with fantastic riffs and top tier songwriting makes this piece really special.”

Season of Unrest features Jon Henrik Rubach from Blåsemafian on saxophone. Solemn was mixed by Jens Bogren at Fascination Street Studios, and we will share more info about the album in due course.

We’re not gone, we’ve been having a long summer vacay and some prepping for Finland shows and the upcoming album! While you wait for some news - enjoy these backstage photos from a little shoot we had the other day! We even met Baard 10 minutes before his live TV show appearance!

Drum clinic at Brainstorm Fest
Our eminent drummer, Tobias Øymo Solbakk, will do a drum clinic at 2:45 on Saturday 4th November. Tobias is a very musically versatile drummer with experience from extreme metal, jazz, pop and anything in between. This is a must for all drummers out there!

IN VAIN RETURNS TO KARMØYGEDDON
We are please to announce that we will return to Karmøygeddon Metal Festival next year. We are playing Saturday 4 May on the main stage. We will showcase songs from our entire career plus new songs from our upcoming album, to be released in 2024. Hope to see you there!

IN VAIN TO FINLAND
We pleased to announce that we are going to Finland 13-14 October. We will play two shows, in Helsinki and Kuopio, together with Finnish metal legends Shade Empire , as a part of the Finnish release tour of their new album 'Sunholy'.

In 2023, we celebrate our 20th anniversary and the shows in Finland will feature music from our entire career. Our fifth album (mixed by Jens Bogren at Fascination Street Studios), will be released in 2024 and we will present new songs on these Finnish shows.

Songwriter and guitarist Johnar Håland adds: “We are looking forward to finally be playing in Finland, and nothing makes it better than to join our brothers and Finnish extreme metal giants, Shade Empire, on their release tour. We had a blast touring together in 2014 and we are looking forward to share the stage with them again. This will be one for the books! Hope to see you there!”
