Jaidyn went to a wonderful rescue/sanctuary organization just about a week ago. She's always been a dog who takes time to trust, but she has warmed right up to the people who run it! She's smiling a lot, and settling into a rhythm of life in their home. We're so grateful to them, and to HEAL-Humanity Empathy Animal Love - Foundation . HEAL facilitated her transfer and gave the receiving rescue a very generous grant! They had been involved in Jaidyn's life since she was about 5 and in danger of euthanasia at Brookhaven Shelter. Now Jaidyn is about 10, and likely to be a sanctuary dog and live out her years being loved beyond measure in her new home. FFFR is raising funds to benefit HEAL, so that they continue their mission to help dogs like Jaidyn! Happy Tails and Courtesy post for Pride Rock Rescue You all saw Creed on our page when we were searching for a rescue or new family for him. Thankfully Pride Rock Rescue stepped up to help, and he is doing GREAT settling into a foster home with an awesome foster mom. He has a doggy brother, and they're getting to know each other, and he's being given plenty of time to settle in, decompress, and reorient himself after this big change in his life. On Tuesday he'll go for his vet appointment. He'll have vaccines and tests, and hopefully a diagnosis for his significant skin issues and be able to begin treatment for them. The estimate for the appointment is $280.27 (see estimate posted in the comments) and that is only the very beginning of what he'll need. Like all rescues, PRR depends on the generosity of donors. Please donate towards Creed's medical care directly to PRR: PayPal: https://www.paypal.me/priderockrescue Venmo: @priderockrescue

Trying again - we've had no interest for Duke! How can that be? He's handsome, and he's a great dog! His mom sent us this video - just look at his playful self :) Courtesy Post - this dog is not in our rescue We told Duke's mom that we would post and network to find him a new home. As part of our direct rehoming program, FFFR will be screening applicants. Any adoption will be directly between Duke's current family and his new family. There is no adoption fee since the adoption is directly between the owners, not through the rescue. Required basic veterinary care (vet visit, vaccines, tests, and spay/neuter) will be coordinated by the rescue and the owners will be responsible for covering any costs not covered by donations. *RESCUES: If you have a place for Duke, please private message the page for more information or call 203-910-5693. *POTENTIAL ADOPTERS: FFFR will be screening applications - please fill one out at https://www.furryfriendsct.org/adoption-application Duke is just soooooo handsome! He's a really good boy, too! His mom is working very long hours - sometimes as many as 12 hrs at a stretch. He's not doing well with that much "alone" time, and she wants what's best for him. She has asked us to help find a new home for him. About 8 years old Husky/lab mix Shy with new people - warms up quickly - no aggression, just shy Anxious in new situations Good with older children Best as an only pet Happiest when he's with his people - retired or work-at-home owner would be great for him! Moderate energy - enjoys playing catch and swimming but also a huge cuddle-bug Crate trained Knows basic commands Neutered Due for rabies vaccine Current with other vaccines Let's work hard to find Duke his new family!

Kona's Many Smiles

URGENT! DEADLINE FOR PLACEMENT IS 6/10! Courtesy post - this dog is not in our rescue. We were contacted a few days ago by an advocate for several dogs. A friend of hers has helped dogs for years - both through rescues and as an independent rescuer. Now her home is in foreclosure, and she needs placement for several dogs. We'll be posting each of them separate. This is *time sensitive*. The preference is that they go to rescue. *If you represent a rescue that can place any of these dogs, please private message our page or information!* Introducing Georgie! :) Georgie is a 2-1/2 year old pit mix. He came with his mom and family from Texas and was only supposed to be with her for a couple of weeks. He's been there since (rescue disappeared evidently). Georgie is dog selective but can do well with other dogs with proper introductions. There is one dog on the property who he had an issue with - otherwise he has done pretty well with other dogs. He's high energy and smart, but lacks socialization and is nervous with people he doesn't know. Georgie needs to be vetted, and be with a family with breed experience who can give him training and social skills. He's a great dog and deserves a great rescue to take over and help him to reach his very best forever!

Fiona (the white and tan pointer mix in the video) is still looking for her forever family. She's a sweet, gentle, timid girl who will make a wonderful family member. To adopt, please fill out an application - https://www.furryfriendsct.org/adoption-application Fiona has come SO FAR since she came to us - now almost 3 years ago. She was one of 33 dogs who was rescued from an awful hoarding situation. The rescue who saved them asked for our help, and FFFR took several of them, Fiona among them. She spent a very long time in a foster home with multiple small dogs, and then moved into her current foster home with two dogs a bit larger than she is. She gets along with dogs of all sizes, but in her new foster home she has really thrived. She loves playing with the foster family's dog and running around in their fenced yard! Although still a timid soul (she probably always will be), she's come out of her shell a LOT. She's no longer totally terrified when she meets new people, and has even learned to walk on a leash and enjoy hikes with the whole family! We'd like to see Fiona in a home with at least one other dog. Her ideal family will have a quiet lifestyle. She isn't a dog who would do well in a home where lots of people go in and out frequently. She's not aggressive at all in that circumstance - she just wants to hide! She'll do best in an adult home or one with older children - the fast movements and loud voices of little ones could scare her. Fiona is house trained, crate trained, and knows all of her basics. She's completely accustomed to living in a home. If you have a bit of patience while she gets to know you and relaxes, you'll have a wonderful, loving, loyal companion and new family member! #pointermix #rescuefosteradoptrepeat #rescuedogsarethebestdogs #adoptarescuedog #adoptdontshop #furryfriendsct #fffr

Kona needs a home by June 1! Please read her story (it's a bit long, but please do read it), and if you can foster or adopt, fill out an application - https://www.furryfriendsct.org/foster-application or https://www.furryfriendsct.org/adoption-application Originally, Kona became an FFFR dog in January, 2017, when she was still a puppy - just about one year old. Two of Kona's advocates reached out to us. She had been with another rescue. The fosters could not keep her any longer. And the rescue was talking about euthanasia because Kona wasn't - and isn't - good with other animals. FFFR agreed to take her into the rescue. One of her advocates fostered her for quite some time. She also spent some time in boarding. Finally she found a wonderful foster who put her heart and soul into working with Kona, along with our rescue's trainer. Kona matured. She grew up. She was still not able to live with other animals (she probably never will be), but she got her basics down pat, learned to walk nicely on a leash (except when she saw a bird ... or a squirrel ... or a chipmunk - she has a bit of a prey drive), learned all of her basics. She went through quite a few crates before we found one that worked for her - she wasn't a fan of being crated. The young Kona was definitely a "project" dog. When a family reached out to us who knew her previous foster family, and said they wanted to adopt Kona, we were overjoyed. We told them she was high energy. We told them she needed consistency and clear expectations. We told them she had a high prey drive. We told them she didn't do well with young children. They said they understood. And we adopted out Kona, excited that she had found a wonderful forever family. The years passed. As sometimes happens, the family's memory of what we had told them either dimmed, or else they believed Kona had changed, or that they could manage a new situation with her. We honestly don't know. They had a baby. The baby turned into a

Kona spent some time with her favorite trainer this past weekend. She went out and about with him which gave her a break from being in the kennel, and also gave an opportunity for her to get some practice in the world that holds so many distractions for her! Getting her to focus in that environment is a huge step of progress for Kona! She needs a family badly. She's been in boarding since she came back to us after years of being in a home, and the time in a kennel is wearing on this active, smart girl. She does need to be an only pet in a home with adults or, if you have children, older teenagers. She'd love a fenced yard and an active family - even at 7 years old, she's got energy to spare and needs daily exercise for both her mind and her body. If you have experience with bully breed dogs, live in Connecticut, and can foster, or would like to adopt, Kona, please fill out an application: https://www.furryfriendsct.org/foster-application or https://www.furryfriendsct.org/adoption-application

Kona's doing so well with her training! She desperately needs to be able to practice what she's learning in a home. She's been in boarding way too long and needs a family! To foster or adopt Kona please fill out an application: https://www.furryfriendsct.org/foster-application or https://www.furryfriendsct.org/adoption-application Kona: Is about 7 years old Is a pit bull mix Is a people pup Needs an adult family or one with older children (teenagers) Needs a family experienced with the breed Needs daily exercise (she loves her walks) Needs consistent expectations Once in the home, Kona will need time to decompress from a long time in boarding. We'll work with the family to make sure the transition is a smooth one. Kona is such a good girl :) She's a dog who will be a great family member!

Fiona is still looking for her forever family. We thought she'd possibly found them, but it did not work out (they adopted from another rescue prior to meeting Fiona). Fiona has come SO FAR since she came to us - now almost 3 years ago. She's finally overcoming her past (she came from a horrible hoarding situation) and has done GREAT in her foster home! She's not so scared of new people anymore, and is even happy to go for walks on a leash!!! She loves other dogs and we'd like to see her in a home with at least one other dog. She'd love a fenced in yard where they can play together. We're looking for a family for Fiona with a quiet lifestyle and experience with rescue dogs. She'll need some time to get to know you - if she has that, you'll be rewarded with a steadfast, loyal, lovable, friendly, funny family member! To adopt Fiona please fill out our application: https://www.furryfriendsct.org/adoption-application #pointermix #rescuefosteradoptrepeat #rescuedogsarethebestdogs #adoptarescuedog #adoptdontshop #furryfriendsct #fffr

Kona Practicing "Sit" and "Down"
Kona is DESPERATE to get out of boarding! Please someone step up for this good girl! While she remains in boarding, she's working with a great trainer, Allen Szykula , on re-learning what he taught her before she was adopted many years ago. This wouldn't be necessary if her adopters had followed through during the years she was with them, but that's another conversation for another day. Dogs need to practice what they've learned pretty much on a daily basis! Once Kona is in a foster home, FFFR will provide ongoing training for Kona with Allen, to make sure that the placement works for everyone and to teach the foster family handling skills. Kona is a GREAT dog who absolutely loves people. She does need to be an only pet in an adult home, or one with teenaged children. Even at 7 years old, she's got some energy and would love a family to take her on long walks or hikes. We're looking for a foster family with breed experience who can commit to working with Kona on training and ongoing socialization. If that family is yours, please fill out an application - https://www.furryfriendsct.org/foster-application. Kona is house trained, crate trained (although she's not a big fan of being crated) and does know her basics - and is busy getting a refresher course in them!

We don't have any idea why Dex hasn't found a foster or forever home yet. He's dog-friendly, people-friendly, and might even do well with cats - he was fine with them when he was a puppy, but at 5-1/2 years old we'd need to make sure he hasn't changed his mind about them. Dex came back to us after years of being in a wonderful home where he was dearly loved. His adopter had serious medical issues that meant she could no longer care for him. He did go to a foster home but they were in transition to a new home and it didn't work out as a result (no fault of Dex!) - and he's been in boarding since. That needs to change! He needs and deserves to be in a home! At 5-1/2 years old, Dex is still an energetic guy who'd love long walks and playtime in a fenced yard. Although he will probably need some time to brush up on his "house manners", he is totally accustomed to living in a home. He would just love a canine playmate or two, and a teenaged brother and/or sister (he's not comfortable with small children). He will quickly become your shadow - our Dex is a bit of a "velcro dog" 🙂 He'll make a fantastic family member and a loving and loyal companion. To foster or adopt, please fill out an application: https://www.furryfriendsct.org/foster-application or https://www.furryfriendsct.org/adoption-application

While Kona is in boarding (she NEEDS a foster or forever home QUICKLY!), she's working with a great trainer, Allen Szykula, on re-learning what he taught her before she was adopted many years ago. Kona spent some time yesterday with an old friend and trainer. She's been working hard with him to brush up on her manners and is doing great! Sadly, we haven't been able to find a home for her since she was returned to us, and so she remains in boarding. She needs to be in a home! Around 7 years old now, Kona still has plenty of energy and loves her walks. She is happy to make new human friends. She does need to be an only pet, and will do best in a home with adults or older children (teenagers). We'd like a family with experience with bully breed dogs who will give her time to transition into the home from a long time in boarding. Either foster or forever families who would like to help Kona by welcoming her into their family, please fill out an application: https://www.furryfriendsct.org/foster-application or https://www.furryfriendsct.org/adoption-application

There was an unavoidable delay in drawing the winner for the Scratch Tix for Maggie contest - BUT the winner has now been drawn! Drum roll please .... congratulations to Traci Weber! We'll get the tickets out to you promptly ... good luck scratching!

Fiona came to us several years ago. Another rescue had saved her and multiple other dogs from a horrible hoarding situation, and asked us to help. Fiona was so terrified for so long, and walking on a leash seemed to be something she would never master. With a wonderful foster family, and lots of time and patience - and encouragement from the family's other dogs - she's finally doing it! <3 Equally exciting is that Fiona has an approved application and will be meeting the family weekend after this coming one ... we're hoping all goes well! Fiona will need to meet with them a few times, but she is more than ready to find her forever home ... stay tuned!

And the winner of our Holiday Build Your Own Doggie Gift Basket Contest is .... drum roll please! ... Patrice Spillane! Congratulations, Patrice! We'll be in touch with you so you can build your basket!
