📕 Finally signed my six year old up for the summer reading challenge today. The weather wasn’t great so we popped along to the library.

📖 The challenge encourages children to keep reading during the school summer holidays. They can also collect stickers and prizes along the way!

🙌 Luckily the library reading challenge was free to take part in, unlike taking 3 boys trainer shopping afterwards. 🫠💰

✈️Children throw the planes to each other and say the sounds/words.

😎 Hit the beach and practice skip counting

😎Simply write a number on each shell/pebble and ask children to put them into the correct order!

⚽️Score a Goal!⚽️

🥅 If you’re exploring position and direction with your class, you might want to give this game a go!

🥅 Children choose a player and place them on the grid. They then give their partner directions to move the player to the goal, e.g. 2 spaces left, 3 spaces forwards.

🥅 This game’s sure to be a hit with any little football fans!

⚽️ FOOTBALL PHONICS⚽️

With the Euros well underway, why not add these activities to your phonics provision?

⚽️Write words on the ground in chalk. Children dribble a ball over the sounds and blend them together. If dribbling is too tricky, they could slowly roll the ball instead.

⚽️Write sounds on polystyrene balls. Line the balls up in front of your net (toy goal/empty tub) to make a word. Children flick the balls into the goal, saying the sounds aloud. Can they blend the sounds to read the word?

🫧 SHAPE BUBBLE WANDS🫧

🫧Shape bubble wands are exciting but also help children learn about shapes and their properties!

🫧Make a pipe cleaner into a 2D shape and twist the ends together.

🫧Loop another pipe cleaner around the bottom of the shape pipe cleaner. Twist where the pipe cleaners meet to secure. This is the handle for your wand.

🫧Thread beads onto the pipe cleaner handle. Fold up the end so that they don’t fall off.

🤩 has been using my monster addition and subtraction clip cards with her class this week.

🤩They love pegs 😄 so are having a great time with this activity!

🍦Ice cream addition is a fun hands-on way to practice addition facts!

🍦Just add together the scoops in each cone to find the total.

🚘 Number Formation Road Mats 🚘

🚗My youngest loved playing with these number mats when he was in Reception!

🚗Children use a toy car to trace over the number or write it with a whiteboard pen.

🚗The stop and go signs help children to remember the correct formation.
