Adriana sent us a screen shot of Woolworths Cream Cheese blocks. Made in the United States of America. We’ve been in to snap the actual product and there it is. USA.

Philadelphia Cream Cheese is still made in Australia as it has been since 1956.

Woolworths spreadable cream cheese is also made in Australia, however with more and more home brand products being imported it seems a much better option to go with an Australian made brand name product.

Edgell response regarding beetroot - not much info really,

Hi Kell,

Dear John,

Thank you for contacting Edgell regarding the availability of Beetroot.

Our Edgell Beetroot is proudly made in Australia using Australian beetroot. Unfortunately, due to a poor yield in the last crop, we are currently experiencing a shortage across our entire Beetroot range.

Rest assured we aim to bring back our Edgell beetroot as soon as we can.

Once again, thank you for taking the time to contact us and the support of our brand.

Kind regards. Nicole

There’s been a noticeable gap in Coles frozen chip shelves over the past few months. They were a staple in our house using Aussie grown potatos and being made in Australia they were perfect. Not to mention gluten free for all our GF friends.

Today I did the old grab and dash with a smile on my dial that they were back in stock. Then upon unpacking the groceries I notice this slap in the face to Aussie farmers and workers. Coles brand classic frozen chips are now made in Belgium from an unknown country of origin.

Coles Potato Royals are still made in Australia from Australian Potatos.

Woolworths have been off the Aussie band wagon for a very long time using Belgium for their frozen chips for years now.

McCain Foods Australia are Aussie farmed potatos however have a May Contain statement for Gluten (besides their specific gluten free packs) and Birds Eye Australia & New Zealand also use Aussie potatos but for those GF friends stay well clear of this brand that contain wheat in the chips but currently okay with the Potato Gems and they are Made in Australia.

Proper Chips — UK.
Potato Utopia — Belgium
Bells farm — Belgium
Logan Farm — ?

If you are in or around Brisbane and are heading to one of our many markets keep an eye out for jasperinajar

I found him at a local market last night and tried some of his range. This guy is super passionate about good quality local produce. Even his jars are Australian made and the labels are biodegradable. He doesn't have online ordering so you will need to go to one of the markets that he is at.

Delicious.

Think smoky. Think delicious. Think so good that you'll want at least two bottles in the house at once. That's our BBQ sauce.

🍅 We guarantee once you taste one of our sauces you’ll want to try every one of them.

No matter what one (or two) you choose, they’ve all got one thing in common. They’re crafted on our family farm in the Adelaide Hills, South Australia using the freshest, locally sourced ingredients.

Here’s a little about me. I’m Kell one of the faces behind AGG and it’s founding admin. Two months ago a mate added me to an online Flavourista social and I joined but didn’t think I would get anything… UNTIL, I realised this company was an Australian Owned company and they make their products LOCALLY on the Gold Coast.

I bought some goodies knowing they were Gluten and Nut Free. And wow! WOW. I’ve loved every single thing. EXPLOSIVE FLAVOURS. So a month later I decided to join as a consultant because the product is amazing! And now I want to shout it from the rooftops and share it with you all!

Aussie Made, Aussie Owned and where possible Aussie Grown. You can follow my page to check out the delicious flavour bombs we have on offer:

A couple of weeks ago I had the pleasure of attending “Pig Day” at Bedgerabong in the NSW Central West. Pig day is all about teaching students from across the central west safe farming practices and allowing them hands on experience with the livestock. A butchers demonstration is an interesting element to the day.

I was lucky enough to meat Farmer Micheal from Gumshire, Hampshire Pork and Bacon. Gumshire are a family run farm in South Australia. You can tell just by one 10 minute conversation that they passionately strive to bring consumers the best possible produce.

I won’t pretend to understand the perfect protein levels in the food we discussed or how limiting chemicals on the farm makes for this perfect pork but the devotion to the livestock just shone through.

Did you know that the majority of Bacon and Ham being sold in Australia is imported? It is up to us the consumer to read labels or ask our butchers where their bacon comes from so we can actively support the Pork farmers across Australia. Follow Aussie Bacon and Ham, they have a great guide on how to be sure you’re buying Aussie bacon and ham.

Gumshire Pork and Bacon can be purchased at the Barossa Farmers Market or contact them directly. If you know of other farms selling direct around the country please give them a shout out in the comments below.

I’ve found that IGA supermarkets often have a better selection of locally produced bacon. In the Central west nsw I try to buy from Bernardi’s Forbes where they have 750g or 1kg Aussie bacon to choose from or Forbes Central Butchery who also have Aussie Bacon. Unfortunately not all butchers stock Aussie so be sure to ask next time you’re at the butchers.

If your school would like to be a part of Pig Day 2024 please contact Bedgerabong Show
