It’s giving Tuesday!! Please consider giving this holiday season. We have many needs this year, but this is one: each year we have men in the program that cannot go home for Christmas for one reason or another. We try to give them a fun, family-like atmosphere here at the program. The holidays are hard for those who cannot be with their families, but we can help to make it better!

If you or someone you know is struggling with substance abuse and is looking for help, below is a link to the page on our website that shares how our program works. We know that there are so many people trapped in addiction right now that are in desperate need of help. All of the staff and leadership here at APOR have been in addiction and know the struggle, so please do not hesitate to reach out to us. There is freedom available, even it seems impossible right now.

The inner healing phase of the program where the men get to work on the root of their addiction, part of it is asking loved ones to forgive them for all the wrong they did to them. The men get so much freedom from these letters and especially the burn letters. The Holy Spirit is so present and powerful in these moments and is a huge part of their trust in the Lord and freedom from addiction. The burn letters are vital part of the program.

Project play ground rebuild update 🥰

Just a few short months ago Mrs. Maria and I were sitting out there on the program property talking with some families who are in the program now and that day sparked a vision in our hearts. I made a post on what our hearts desire was for this playground rebuild and y’all did what y’all do. Blessed us beyond what we even hoped for.

As usual I’m always amazed at how the Lord provides and goes above and beyond what our vision even was. This is only the beginning. This is how far we’ve gotten with just what we’ve raised and had donated to us so far. There’s more to come !! By the time we finish, God willing, with more time and more donations there will be more added as time goes on. But look at this amazing start 😍

The big slide will have a lower deck , stairs to climb up, and a rock wall.

And on the other side of everything the plan is to have a smaller slide / play house for the smaller kids.

We also have one adult swing already built and donated that will be put in the back for parents to sit together and watch their children play and enjoy their time together as the Lord is usually rebuilding and restoring relationships during these men’s time at APOR . We are praying for the funds for an additional seating area / swing for adults to put on the other end of the area and even a basketball goal for the guys and kids to enjoy !

The Vision is bigger and better than I could have imagined. Our God is bigger and better at coming through for us even in the needs that may seem miscellaneous to some. But To those of us whose been there. Who have spent 9 months of growing and restoring our families with a God centered approach. Watched our husbands, sons, brothers rebuild relationships with their children. This playground is far from a miscellaneous need to us.

I am so grateful for the memories my kids and I have made at this place and I am so so so grateful for you all who have played a part in this rebuild project and who will continue to play a part in it until it is complete !

All our love and thanks to you and all Glory to God for this blessing 🤍🙌🏽

Please share to show the update on what y’all donations have done so far and what any additional donations will go towards.

To all APOR alumni and family, we are having a homecoming event at the program on October 21. We will have food, fun jumps, testimonies, and good fellowship. Please call or text Jeremy with questions and to RSVP.

From staking out the plot and praying for God to have His way in this new dorm, to fully framed; we are moving quickly with this new project. Pray for God’s blessing on it and pray for the men that will live in it to get the most important thing: a life changing relationship with Christ. Without that, the buildings don’t matter.

Huge, huge, huge thanks to the Mary and Al Danos Family Foundation for their overwhelming generosity toward this project. We are so grateful.

** update - I’m just so thankful for how quick people have been to reach out and help. A week later from this post and we are working on drawing up plans for our vision and what we want for this playground and will start to make it come to life ! I’m so grateful for everyone who has donated and will donated towards this project ! Thank you thank you thank you !! Thank you also for sharing the post 🥰🙌🏽

I spent the afternoon visiting at APOR today with some family we have going through the program. While my kids played with their kids and some of the guys I was able to sit back and reminisce with some friends about years ago when my husband was in this program. The countless weekend visits with families and their kids watching these men make healthy and new memories with their babies. Some who have missed out on years of experiences while lost in their addictions. In conversation today we talked about how much we miss that play ground they had that Ida destroyed and got me thinking….
That’s what I’ll raise money for next !

You see I went dig up all these pictures from years ago to post as an example of the memories I’m speaking of with these men that get to be made with their children at visitations. Bonding not only the men with their children but also the men with the other families as well. That simple play set did more than just create family memories. It got us all interacting with other families and built support systems, and deeper connections simply over playing with our children.

My prayer is that the guys there now and any future men that make the brave decision to seek help would get to experience the same life changing friendships and relationships and bonds that were built on this property as we did when we were there.

If you have it on your heart to help in anyway please reach out to me or anyone at the program to donate or I’ll link their Venmo you can send straight to.
*Label it “ play ground rebuild “ *

is their venmo !

Y’all have always blown me away when I have som**hing on my heart to help this program with and I’m prayerful that this will be no different ! Thank you in advance to anyone who decides to help make our vision come back to life !

👇🏼 I even got my kids to model a picture for the perfect place a play set could be rebuilt 🥰

Testimony from April Byrd.

7 years ago on this very day, I was a drug addict and everything that came along with that lifestyle. I lost custody of my children after my youngest daughter was born with m**h (among other drugs) in her system. I was a thief who stole from my family, a compulsive liar, homeless, hopeless, and in the most desperate of situations.

In the worlds eyes, I was considered a “least likely” to ever succeed. BUT GOD! He chooses what the world considers foolish, weak, and insignificant in order to shame those who think they are wise. The Bible says He chooses the powerless to shame those who are powerful. God chooses the ones despised by the world, (things counted as NOTHING at all), and uses them to bring to nothing what the world considers important. (1 Corinthians‬ ‭1‬:‭27‬-‭28‬)

Today, I get to testify that I have been walking in the freedom my redeemer died for, for 7 years! This freedom didn’t come from the wisdom of this world. It didn’t come from following a series of steps or from taking it “one day at a time”. This freedom came when I surrendered my life to the Lord. I had an encounter with Jesus Christ and He set me FREE!

Exodus 9:16 declares, “For this very reason He allowed me to live, in order to show me His power, AND in order that His name may be proclaimed throughout all the earth.

I have devoted my life to serve Christ and to let others know that if He can deliver me from a life of addiction, He can do the same for them!

If you are struggling with addiction and have tried to find freedom through the way of the world but still find yourself in bo***ge, there is a reason you came across this testimony. Listed below are 2 programs that my husband and I are affiliated with.

This is our new home by God’s grace and through His provision. The other picture is our old office after Hurricane Ida. We weren’t sure what to do after the storm and drug our feet on what the next step would be. We felt like God was saying to trust that He would provide for us if we stepped out in faith. We drew up plans for a building with no money in the budget, and 1 year later, without any fundraising, God (through His people) provided every dollar. Generous people of means APPROACHED US (!!!) about how they could give. People we had no relationship with previously, came to us to invest in our vision. We not only got a new office, but a new gathering space, classroom, family room, and most importantly, a renewed sense of what God can do for His people. Now it is our job to respond to His provision in obedience and continued faith. Pray for us as we try to continue in His perfect will.

23/05/2023

This is how my 2 year old deals with disappointment. As we grow, we don’t necessarily get better at hearing no, we just get better at getting our way; through sneakiness, manipulation, intimidation, etc… The biggest battle in renewing the mind for us comes in trusting that not getting my way is a good thing. His way is the good thing; my way is destructive. Once a man embraces the fact that adversity and discomfort create the environment for God’s character to be developed in him, he will grow. It’s such a privilege to be a witness to God’s process.

One of these bills is a counterfeit. It was in circulation for a while before it was identified and confiscated. Secret Service agents are trained to know what is counterfeit by tirelessly studying the real thing. At APOR, we are teaching men (and ourselves) that have ruined their lives in pursuit of fulfillment from counterfeits, to tirelessly study the real thing. In this new pursuit, we now have eyes that can identify what is fake and won’t fill us: anything that isn’t Christ. Pray for the men here that the scales will fall and their hearts will be filled with the fullness of God (Ephesians 3:19).

If blessing someone this Christmas season is on your heart we ask that you would consider donating to our 2022 A Place of Restoration toy drive ! This particular drive is to raise money for the guys who are in the program who have children! We’ve had huge success in previous years collecting for each Dad to be brought shopping and given the opportunity to buy for his child/ children. These Dad’s will get to experience the shopping, wrapping and giving a gift to their kids while also being able to feel the love and providing Christ gives by working through his people.
I personally can say how blessed and impactful this simple gesture was to me and my family with the love we felt from others when our kids experienced a Christmas with their Dad at APOR.

If this is som**hing you would be interested in donating to you can reach out to donate or send directly to APOR’s Venmo . Just label your donation “Toy drive“ so they know what to put the money towards !

Venmo :

“For God is the one who provides seed for the farmer and then bread to eat. In the same way, he will provide and increase your resources and then produce a great harvest of generosity in you. Yes, you will be enriched in every way so that you can always be generous. And when we take your gifts to those who need them, they will thank God.”

Recovery thought…

There is no neutral gear when it comes to overcoming addiction. Recovery is all about overcoming self, and self always wants to take the easy way; it always wants to go downhill. The battle in recovery is fought on an incline. If you rest on the incline, you go backwards. Overcoming self always requires positive action. The biggest enemy of the addict is not found at the dealer’s house, it’s found in his/her desire to find rest in laziness and comfort. Our rest comes from Christ. He says, “Come to me, all who labor and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest.” The rest is found in Him, but we have to GO to Him to find it. If you are heavy today, don’t find a couch, do som**hing different and seek out the lover of your soul.

Photos from Apor Home's post 20/05/2022

When we first got on the property after the hurricane, it was hard to imagine how the destruction we saw would turn out for the good… But for God. We were able to fix and save much of what was damaged, but our office could not be repaired. God saw an opportunity for som**hing new, while we grieved the loss of som**hing old. This new building is more than a building to us. It is a sign of God’s faithfulness and His plan.

Please consider partnering with us by contributing through the link below. If you would like to give in another way, please message us directly and we can instruct you on how to do that. God bless!!
