August is always crazy and this one is no different- I’m not even getting time to put posts up properly!!

Did I tell you how much I love it? I hope so because it is amazing ❤️

Amidst the chaos I managed to be part of a small photo shoot with some new faces and I loved it- can’t wait to show you that….

I also got the gallery from a shoot last month and the imagery is just…… wowwww….. I will get round to showing that off!!

Finally, in a mad moment I attempted to amputate part of a finger- however it’s healing so all is good in the world !!

Despite the drizzle, I had a lovely time yesterday evening. I was amongst lovely company- so much talent on show. It really is a lovely venue and the gardens are gorgeous - little vid on stories …..

A special mention has to be made for the food- the taster platters were to die for and trust me I tried everything🤣🤣

I fully appreciate not everyone has a large budget when it comes to their wedding cake. I try to give couples some options- after all it’s a wedding!!

Using organic, edible pressed flowers is just such an option and it looks so pretty and fresh - summer colours at a summer wedding.

The flowers are all purchased in the UK, where necessary, although last year I deliberately grew things myself and pressed them so that I could record their source- part of my sustainable processes.

I love all kinds of flowers and feel strongly that couples should be able to choose what suits their style and budget.

Sugar flowers are stunning and keepsakes but they come at a cost. Fresh flowers look beautiful but you get guidance on them. Pressed flowers are another possibility- so don’t be frightened to ask for information. As part of the research process it is really important that you choose a supplier to work with you and who shows a style that suits you- even with cake😁

This style of 2 tier cake is also increasingly popular this year and is a modern twist on the standard look.Again, if you don’t want a standard cake- don’t do it- discuss how you can change the shapes to create your own style🤣

H & D chose gorgeous meadow flower arrangements , that looked fabulous and which complemented their cake. As always the looked so pretty and was just waiting for everyone to arrive.

To be trusted with making a wedding cake on behalf of another cake artist is a very important relationship. I am so honoured that felt she could ask me, to help out, at the last minute.

The couple, A & S were just fabulous and their day was perfect.

I am also lucky to work with the amazing venue regularly so I knew everything would be running smoothly.

Add to that fabulous suppliers and well….. it’s another fabulous wedding day.

Wow wow wow- what a fabulous week of weddings, beautiful weather and general love and happiness😁

August is always my busiest month but this one is full of the loveliest cakes with awesome couples, amazing venues, fabulous suppliers- it is EPIC 🥰

A big shout out to my assistant .crocker_ who has baked and ganached like a crazy person over the last couple of weeks- she has kept me hydrated and laughing!!! 🤍🤍

Alongside all of that I am visiting a new venue for the evening, this Thursday 8th along with - . It’s close to me but I haven’t been before and I have only heard good things about it so really looking forward to it- details on stories. If you haven’t chosen your venue yet- come along and see if this is one for you…

So, it’s Monday again- my day for organisation and planning- but first I need an oat milk hot chocolate- my equivalent to coffee….. the biggest thank you for the messages and images from weddings- it means so much to know you were happy❤️

Isn’t this just gorgeous? Let me start with the cake…. Obvs……

My lovely couple are duck crazy…. I mean seriously duck bonkers…..what’s not to love? Anyways they had a gorgeous pair of toppers and that really decided the look of the cake- what else could you do but have duck feet wandering all over the cake????

So little hand painted duck prints it was….

Then Ruth from .floraldesign suggested garlands at each tier and they absolutely added a stunning touch ❤️

Letting your suppliers collaborate can add magic so don’t be afraid to let them

R & D celebrated at the fabulous which is always a lovely place to visit at any time..

Many congratulations to this duck loving couple- I took some images of their many ducks over on stories. It was great fun and brought a smile to us all…🥰🥰

Sometimes gorgeous things come in smaller packages and this is just one of them….❤️

I love tall slim cakes but if I am honest- I love cake in all its shapes and forms so it matters not how big or small it is 😁

2 tier cakes are very popular this year and they definitely create a modern twist.

I always come back to the be true to yourself maxim, if you don’t need tons of cake don’t have it, if you have a budget then tell me, if you want a smaller cake to fit in with other tasty morsels- then do it…..

We will work together- to discuss design, flavours, set up- in order to create the vision.

C & S went through this process for their day and this gorgeous semi naked number fit their needs and desires. Dressed with faux flowers provided by them, and their cute topper- I provided a glass stand to add a touch of elegance.

Always an absolute pleasure to visit which, frankly, speaks for itself in terms of style.😁

When S & J told me that they wanted a dragon on their cake…. I was thrilled- as you know I love anything a little out of the ordinary… and so it was!!

I woke up this morning and quietly scrolled through my grid- I remember every wedding through the cake…. Each couple, their plans, the excitement…..

I am lucky enough to travel across north wales to deliver wedding cakes and I love nothing more than a visit to which is an actual French chateau built looking over the Menai straits on Anglesey.

Every room is stunning, it is full of quirky features, the views are to die for…

Welcoming and helpful staff where nothing is too much trouble make it a pleasure and I always try to take 5 minutes to enjoy a look back to the mainland 🥰

N & M chose this as their venue and it looked spectacular for their day. Not only was there glorious sunshine but the ceremony room looked beautiful after waved their magic wands.

One day you’re just minding your own business and the next it’s full blown wedding season……😁

The buzz when this starts is fabulous- couples are excited to see their plans come to fruition, venues look awesome, suppliers are doing what they do best….🤣

If only it was possible to haul the sunshine out too…. But I have seen some amazing pictures despite clouds and rain and the couples have all taken it in their stride⛈️🌦️

In the meantime I’ve been working on a couple of projects and cannot wait to show you the end results- they’re both quite special 💝

Generally couples who book me for their wedding, know my style and that is what attracts them- and I love that. If you just send an image asking me how much something is- I’m probably not the right person for you- in truth I want you to be as invested in the elements of your wedding as you are in the big decisions….

I love it when we decide how your cake should look, how we make it your cake, how we think about where it will stand and how everyone else will see it….

Those choices mean I have the same vision you have and it is such a delight to turn that into reality

Being part of a wedding celebration is a real honour, so you can only imagine how fabulous it feels when a family member chooses you for their day too😁

I love this logo- it’s very me- clean lines and unfussy- is that even a word? I’m comfortable that it represents my business and all of my packaging is based on it!

Reviews and kind words are so important to small businesses like mine. There isn’t a huge marketing budget, there is just one person trying to manage everything 😁

When I deliver a cake and leave it behind, I spend anxious hours wondering if It fit the brief, if it tasted good, what did the couple think…. So when I get a message of thanks…. I can relax 🤣

I spend lots of time ensuring that my ingredients are the best they can be, that my knowledge is up to date, testing flavours and recipes, and trying out new ideas. I try to provide guidance when couples are stuck with their vision, show them options and make suggestions. It’s all about working together on this journey.

A wedding cake isn’t just a cake- it’s a one off, it is usually bespoke, it is subject to a deadline and it can be the centre of attention. Few couples get to see it before the day so it could be their only surprise….

There will be lots of discussions and ideas exchanged to reach a final design…..

Couples can arrange as many zooms as necessary to chat through their thoughts which means I get the chance to know you both and to be part of your wedding journey….

And so it was with N & A- the details were simple but effective, the shape of the cake was different to the standard. They also had a vision for how their cake table would look and it all worked to create their vision.

Can’t believe it’s the weekend again- the weeks are flying by….

I have a huge thank you to who were so helpful in sorting out a problem for me this week- great customer service and support. So if you are looking for cake toppers etc- these guys are reasonably local and very helpful 👍

Also huge shout out to a group people who absolutely filled my cup to brimming this week. We put together something, just a small team, and each and everyone of them gave more than was expected or hoped for and oh my goodness- the end results are special- can’t wait to show you . They chose a semi naked cake but made it their own by using a hexagonal shape. The lovely provided the foliage and meadow flowers🤍
It was lovely to meet too and looking forward to seeing more of her beautiful work.
It was my first visit to as a supplier but the staff were very helpful, the venue is stunning and it was a pleasure to take a moment to have a look- see stories!

Also I have finally had an hour where all of the admin was done…. 🤣

I never fail to get excited for each wedding- over 10 years of making wedding cakes and I get the same feelings as I pull up to each venue ready to put your cake together ❤️

There is something special about weddings- and there is also something lovely for those that work in it- we are all doing everything we can to bring a dream together ❤️
