The cranial cruciate ligament (known as the anterior cruciate ligament, or ACL, in humans) is one of several ligaments in the knee that connect the femur (thigh bone) to the tibia (shin bone). When torn, it results in partial or complete joint instability, pain, and immobility.

Some symptoms of a CCL rupture in your dog may include...
🐾 Decreased range of motion
🐾 Thick/firm feel of the joint
🐾 Hind leg extension while sitting
🐾 Weight shifted to one side of the body while standing
🐾 Popping sound when walking

Your dog can swim and do rehab in the Ortho Dog Brace. They can be hand washed with a small amount of laundry liquid, rinsed well, and hung to dry.

Meet Jameson and his friend Gus!

Ortho Dog offers a Dual Cruciate Care Knee Brace for pups suffering from recent/acute CCL tears in both knees! 💜 🐾

We only recommend bracing both legs if there are current bilateral tears in both knees. Bracing both legs can makes ambulation more difficult, since bracing limits flexion and extension in the knee. For a dog with acute bilateral injuries, this is absolutely beneficial!

But, if your dog doesn’t have acute bilateral injuries, bracing both knees can make adapting to wearing a brace more challenging. Our brace is unique in that when the injured knee is braced, it takes pressure off of the other leg.
