San Bernardino Mountains Community Bible Study
Where Transformation Happens We welcome people from all backgrounds and levels of Bible knowledge, and are known as an "every person's Bible study."
Community Bible Study is an interdenominational Bible study offering a wide range of courses with over 700 classes throughout the United States. Since 1975, Community Bible Study has been helping people -- from children to seniors -- to grow in their knowledge and love of Jesus Christ. Community Bible Study is known as a safe haven "Where Transformation Happens."
Wishing you abundant joy and all that your heart desires (Psalm 37:4) as we celebrate what Christmas is all about ..... the birth of our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ!!!
We are on Lesson 7 this week, "When David Faces a Giant." Most of us know the story of David vs. Goliath, but Chapters 16-17 in the Book of 1 Samuel gives us the full story surrounding that battle and the character of the men involved...unbelief, faith, trust and their heart.
God's Word for the week (our memory verse) is 1 Samuel 16:7b.
Happy Monday! This last week we have been continuing our study in the book of 1 Samuel. Lesson 6 specifically covers chapters 12 through 15. It speaks of the many decisions made by King Saul that ultimately led to his demise as they were not in line with what God had asked the Israelites to do long before they entered the Promised Land.
In the NIRV Bible (New International Readers Version) that we often use during Kids CBS, Deuteronomy, chapter 10:12-13 puts it in the most simple terms.......
Hello ladies, this is a reminder we are not meeting this week but will gather again next Wednesday, November 29th.
During this season of giving thanks, we are reminded of the many gifts God has so graciously bestowed on us, especially His unfailing love and faithfulness. Let's give thanks with grateful hearts!
We are on Lesson 3 this week, covering the first 3 Chapters in the book of 1 Samuel. Last week we saw the relationship between Naomi and Ruth; how Ruth learned to love the Lord by Naomi's example. This week we learn about Hannah, her deep heartache and journey of faith.
God's Word for the week: "There is none holy like the Lord: for there is none besides you; there is no rock like God." 1 Samuel 2:2
The books of Ruth and 1 Samuel each open with heartsick women. In Ruth, it's Naomi, a grieving widow. In 1 Samuel, it's Hannah, who longed for a child. Are you curious to know more about these women and how their stories unfold? If so, please join us this Wednesday, November 1st, as we begin in the book of Ruth.
God's Word for this week is Ruth 1:16b.....For where you go I will go, and where you lodge I will lodge. Your people shall be my people, and your God my God.
This week we are doing a review of the book of Joshua....God's faithful servant who lived obediently and courageously in fulfilling the tasks God had given him.
We invite you to join us tomorrow, Wednesday, October 25th, as we conclude our study of Joshua and prepare to delve into the books of Ruth and Samuel. It's not too late to register!
If you are following along with us, we are on Lesson 6 and studying the last 3 chapters of Joshua, covering chapters 22-24.
God's word for this week is Joshua 24:15:
Choose this day whom you will serve... But as for me and my house, we will serve the Lord.
Happy Monday, Ladies!
This week we are on Lesson 5 - 'Dividing the Land.' We are studying Chapters 13 through 21 in the Book of Joshua and our new memory verse is Joshua 21:45.
We look forward to seeing you Wednesday morning!
Next Wednesday, October 4th, we will continue our study in the Book of Joshua, Chapters 9-12.
We will be discussing Lesson 4, "Israel Conquers Canaan."
Our new verse for the week is "Trust in the LORD with all your heart, and do not lean on your own understanding." Proverbs 3:5
Hoping you can join us at 9:30 at Lake Gregory Community Church.
Happy Monday!
This year we welcome you to join us as we continue our study of the Books of Joshua, Ruth, Samuel and James. We meet on Wednesday mornings at 9:15 at Lake Gregory Community Church.
This week we are on Lesson 3, discussing chapters 6 through 8 of the Book of Joshua. It speaks of "Victory in Obedience."
Our verse for the week is "Have I not commanded you? Be strong and courageous. Do not be frightened, and do not be dismayed, for the LORD your God is with you wherever you go." Joshua 1:9
We’d like to extend an open invitation to come on Wednesday, May 17th at 9:30 for our San Bernardino Mountains Women’s Community Bible Study Spring Party. We will be sharing information on the upcoming 2023-2024 study set to begin on Wednesday, September 13, 2023.
We meet Wednesday mornings from 9:30-11:30, either in person at Lake Gregory Community Church or online, and have great children and youth classes.
Hope to see you on the 17th!
Hello Ladies!
Just sending out a reminder that we will NOT be meeting this Wednesday, November 23rd.
We hope you can enjoy this brisk, cooler weather as we prepare to celebrate all we have to be thankful for during this season of giving thanks. HAPPY THANKSGIVING!
We will see you again on Wednesday, November 30th when we review Lesson 9: The Road to Mount Sinai and Lesson 10: Moses Consecrates the People. These lessons include readings from Exodus 15:17 through 19:25.
As the kids will be reminded in Lesson 9, 'next time you have grumbly thoughts and words...exchange them for words that show you are thankful and you trust God to care for you.'
See you in a couple of weeks!
A note from Community Bible Study International:
Elly from the Netherlands writes: "About 12 years ago I joined a CBS Bible study group. What struck me then and still strikes me is the warmth, familiarity, and security that I found. I think that's what the Spirit of God does.
"Together opening God's Word, learning from it and sharing with each other. It doesn't matter from which church you are, because CBS is all about the Bible.
"The personal questions relate the Bible texts to our own lives in the present time. This creates beautiful conversations, in which you listen to the others and can help or be helped yourself.
"Summarizing, I think CBS is great and the meetings feel like a warm bath to me. I hope to be a member of CBS for a long time to come. Thanks!"
From June through July about 14 ladies met weekly at Ginger’s home. It was an opportunity for ladies unfamiliar with CBS to do a weekly Bible study and get a feel for what it might be like. Two new ladies signed up and are eager for September to arrive to start. Ginger added some deeper prayer practices and communication skills to the morning. We worked together to prepare a lunch and enjoyed a meal together before we went on our way to our own mission fields.

We'd like to invite you to join us this Wednesday, May 18th, at 9:30 (at Lake Gregory Community Church) as we complete our study with the Revelation Review lesson and then celebrate in sharing and rejoicing in the "Wedding of the Lamb" with a potluck luncheon.
And then, on Wednesday, June 1st, from 9:30 to noon we will have our first CBS Summer Get-together - a Lawn Party for kids & adults with fun, games & snacks. See you then....and bring a friend!!
We are on Lesson 18 - "Come, Lord Jesus!" - the last lesson of our study in the Book of Revelation. God's Word for this week from Chapter 22, the final Chapter of Revelation, confirms prophecy and gives a warning......
We are in Lesson 17 - All Things New. It covers Revelation 21 and includes God's Word for the week:
In our Lesson 16 teaching, Beverly discussed how we may have an abundance of questions as we dig deeper into our study of the Book of Revelation, but reminded us......
He is not here; He has risen, just as He said! Matthew 28:6
Lesson 12 - Songs of Victory and the Bowl Judgments. This week our study in Revelation delves into chapters 15 and 16 (Worship, Judgement and a Blessing!)
God's Word for the week is Revelation 15:4
Join us Wednesday morning as we discuss Lesson 10: An Evil Trio. It covers Chapters 12 and 13 from the Book of Revelation.
God's Word for the week is Revelation 12:10 - Now the salvation and the power and the kingdom of our God and the authority of his Christ have come, for the accusers of our brothers has been thrown down, who accuses them day and night before our God.
(P.S. Don't be late as the Kid's CBS classes will be sharing with us during our opener!!)
Hello everyone
Below is an important message about Wednesday, February 23rd:
CBS Core Groups will meet at the regular time ONLINE for question review and teaching this Wednesday. This way we can stay warm and safe at home since the forecast predicts snow and ice on the roads and still do Revelation Lesson 8!
Please DO NOT go to the church as we will not be there this week.
Of course, this means we will miss the planned core group luncheon time, but next month we can make it a really special time!
You will receive an email invite from your Core Leader. Wednesday morning, just click on the "join" button. If you have any questions, please contact your Core Group Leader.
Chapter 8 will have to wait!!
We will be taking a snow, or more appropriately hail, day tomorrow, Wednesday, February 16th.
Stay safe and warm while enjoying the beauty of His creation!
This week we cover Lesson 8 - The Trumpets. We read in Revelation chapters 8 and 9 that 7 judgements are given, each announced by a trumpet. And we find God's Word for the week in the Book of 2 Thessalonians 3:3,5
See you Wednesday, as we dig deeper into what the sound of the trumpet symbolizes in this New Testament book.
In Lesson 6 - The Lamb and the Scroll, we are reading through chapter 5 of the book of Revelation and reminded, “Worthy is the Lamb who was slain.”
This week we are on Lesson 4 - Letters to Three Churches. These letters to the churches of Sardis, Philadelphia and Laodicea are found in Revelation Chapter 3.
We will be meeting via Zoom this Wednesday (01/19) as Beverly explains:
You will soon be hearing from your Core Group Leaders, concerning class on 1/19/2022.
Rim School District will be closed on that day, and we will NOT be meeting in person.
Most of you remember last year’s zoom Core Groups, and that’s our plan for this week. This year, however, there are no restrictions about gathering, so you may feel free to meet with others from your Core Group to zoom together! (However, it cannot be at Lake Gregory Christian Church.)
You will receive a zoom invitation in your email, the night before class, and a reminder the morning of 1/19. Simply click the blue, highlighted link and follow the prompts to gain admission to the group at 9:30 Wednesday morning. We’ve got lots of support available to assist if you have any difficulty!
We all agree that meeting in person is best, but in these uncertain times, we’re grateful to have an alternative available, and pray that it won’t be necessary to utilize it again.
Please reach out to your Core Group Leader if you have any questions! Thank you for your cooperation, faithfulness and flexibility!
With love,
Beverly
What a wonderful memory verse to start our study of Revelation!
Welcome to 2022!! Hoping to see you as we return to CBS this Wednesday, January 5th. We are beginning our study on the book of Revelation and enjoying fellowship as we share a potluck meal together (having been postponed due to weather in December)
Good morning Everyone!
Just a reminder for those of you who have not received your Revelation study book.
There are 3 book pick up and new registration opportunities:
Monday Dec 20th 12:30-2 pm Lake Gregory Community Church parking lot
Tuesday Dec 21 from 9 till 12 at Beverly's office at Dr. Bramson's in Crestline
Sunday Dec 26th from Mary at lake Gregory Community Church
Please let Cherie know if you need to make other arrangements.
On this chilly evening, we hope each of you are staying safe and warm as this first big snow fall of the season is upon us. Although disappointing, we have made the difficult decision to cancel our CBS study and luncheon planned for tomorrow, December 15th, due to probable challenging road conditions. BUT, please join us on January 5th when we begin our new study on the book of Revelation AND enjoy our luncheon.
Until then, enjoy the days ahead as we prepare our hearts for the birth of our Savior.
Jude had devoted the first half of his letter to criticizing and condemning false teachers. His underlying purpose, however, was to protect and build up his friends who were faithful followers of Jesus. He closed his letter with encouragement and advice in how believers could remain strong to the end and gave worship to the Lord giving all glory, majesty, dominion and authority.
A great reminder and words of wisdom from Beverly's teaching yesterday...
Nancy, our Area Director, visited our class on November 3rd.
Here is a great take away she shared with us:
