SoPho Convening is supporting Arizona Community Foundation, to help inform ACF’s new CEO and strategic plan for the next 3-5 years during a time when the state of Arizona will begin to join other areas like South Phoenix and cities like Avondale that have been and are becoming majority Latino. Looking forward to growing our relationship and building partnerships that help South Phoenix and Arizona communities thrive.

The SoPho Convening, and South Central Collaborative members are educating the next generation of South Phoenix leaders at South Pointe High School today. We are teaching them about the South Central TOD Community Plan, Walkable Urban Code (Wu Code), and the Workforce Development Programs being offered to construct the South Central Light Rail Extension. Thank you Larry McGill Jr for your commitment and leadership to South Phoenix.

Our neighborhood group, The SoPho Convening is excited to be collaborating on a new grant that was awarded to us to work with Officer Nubia Ornelas at Quest High School for "The Conquerors Wake Up Program."

This program will provide students with law related education, and life skills which will allow them to be successful and productive citizens in our community. The SoPho Convening and the Phoenix Police department will work hand in hand with these South Phoenix students and introduce them to a variety of activities that will allow them to be proactive members of our
community. We will be doing community events, graffiti removal, neighborhood cleanups, and volunteering with local non-profit organizations to give back to our South Phoenix community.

SoPho Convening. Members had a great time at lunch today with CAB South Members, Valley Metro & City of Phoenix, Friends of Transitfrom and local business owners of South Central PHX. Taqueria Tepehuaje is located in the heart of South Central PHX (4602 S Central Ave, Phoenix, AZ 85040). They’re also a great spot for a cool Raspado or cold treats during our hot summer nights.

We wanted to share another great article in the link below that was reported by the Arizona Republic on the SoPho Convening's community organizing work with the South Central Fight Back Neighborhood and the City of Phoenix to secure the (+-) $400,000 in funding needed for the 7th Avenue and Southern Light Improvements.
