Working on my own fur babies while I am laid up at home 💕
Good news!!!!
I just got a call that I am having surgery on my ankle on Wednesday, May 3rd! I apologize for the last minute notice and any inconvenience it may cause! I was hoping they would give me more notice than this. This does mean that I will be off for several months as I will be in a cast and non-weight bearing. I may be able to work on some dogs once the pain from surgery has eased or have people who feel comfortable being shown how to use my machine work on their horses under my supervision. Thank you all so much for your continued support and I hope to be back and good as new as quickly as possible!
Equi-Tape has been a really cool addition to my list of services that I offer both horses and dogs! I have finished their equine beginner and fundamental course for practitioners and just have to finish up a few things to receive my certification. Then it will be on to the canine certification course!
The nice weather has finally arrived and horse show season is around the corner! I am ready to help! Maybe your horse is recovering from an injury and needs some help with a speedy recovery, has some sore muscles from working hard to get back into shape, or you just want to help prevent injuries as you bring them back into work. I can offer massage therapy, red light therapy, pemf, and kineisiology taping. Do you also have a dog that could use some TLC? I can help them too! Contact me if you have any questions or would like to set up an appointment!
Happy Easter!!!!!
I have been invited to join this wonderful dog friendly event in Woodstock to advertise my business, help educate people on IVDD and the risk in Dashunds, and talk a little bit about ticks as well. “Cinderellie” wearing her crown and enjoying the “royal treatment” 👸
Happy International Woman’s Day!!
“Grapes” absolutely adores his PEMF sessions! He licks, chews, yawns, rubs his head on his mom, and makes the best faces! He is ALWAYS so happy to be around people and you would never know he is well into his 20’s. Fun fact: one of his favourite treats are grapes but that’s not where he gets his name from 🤣.
Ozzie wasn’t too sure at first but it didn’t take him long to get comfortable and close his eyes 🥰
Please help support this little boy from Petrolia who was in a tragic accident and is still recovering! There are a lot of awesome raffles with some amazing local donations including a $50 gift certificate for any of my services. It is so important to try and help and support your community and it’s members 🥰
This poor “senior” pup has injured his cruciate ligament in his stifle, (a ligament in the “knee”), again with the snow and ice making an appearance. Luckily, he is such a good boy for his red light therapy! He is having a session on the injured stifle to help with pain, inflammation, and speed up healing, and on the other to help prevent compensatory issues from occurring.
Annabelle’s very first PEMF session 🥰. She was a little nervous at first, but was ready for a nap by the end!
The little princess, (Allis), falling asleep during her red light therapy for her injured stifle 🥱😴
Waylon loves his PEMF sessions 💕. He is always chewing on his rope, licking and chewing, yawning, or closing his eyes and lowering his head 🥱 😴 💤
Happy New Year everyone!
Merry Christmas everyone!! 🎄🎅🤶
Bodywork will not “fix” your horse…😱
As an REMT, I’m speaking in support of all the bodywork providers out there. The ones who understand that we are just one of many factors that go into a horses health care and performance.
*Bodywork treats secondary issues and compensatory developments the majority of the time.*
What does this mean?
This means that we *typically* evaluate and treat musculoskeletal pain and imbalance, that originally developed due to a separate primary cause. Most often hypertension, malalignment, asymmetry, trigger point development, fascial restriction, scar tissue accumulation, etc, is *caused* by some internal or external/environmental stressor.
Sometimes issues do develop as what we consider as the “primary” issue. Perhaps from general overexertion, muscular fatigue, strain or sprain injuries in an otherwise perfectly healthy and well maintained horse. These can technically be “fixed” indefinitely with well applied bodywork treatment.
But in my 12 years of experience, the VAST majority of the issues we are contacted to investigate develop as a result of something outside of the control of the bodyworker. Issues that require further investigation via a veterinarian, saddle fitter, farrier, rider, trainer, the list goes on.
💙A bodyworker will help your horse who is suffering from arthritis feel better, but it won’t fix the arthritis.
💙A bodyworker will help your horse with kissing spines find relief, but it’s not going to make the interaction disappear forever.
💙A bodyworker will help your horses SI pain, but it won’t fix poor conformation.
💙A bodyworker will help reduce body pain from navicular, but it won’t fix poor hoof maintenance.
💙It won’t fix poor riding
💙It won’t fix a poorly developed exercise program/expectations
💙It won’t fix lack of turnout, or heavy hands, or tooth problems, ulcers, old well-established injuries, or conditions that require ongoing veterinary management. It won’t fix unreasonable expectations of a horses physical or mental capabilities, or lack of training. Your chiro can’t solve all of your problems alone, nor your saddle fitter, nor your trainer, farrier or even your vet!
A good bodywork professional knows this, and embraces this! Our job is *not* to fix your horses problems. It is to identify your horses areas of restriction, weakness, imbalance, and provide them what relief we can to enhance their wellbeing and performance.
My goal is to help you become aware of these weaknesses or limitations, so that you can move forward with a better understanding and more information to help in identifying any potential factors that are contributing to the development of these restrictions so that they don’t continue as a chronic issue. To help you understand *why* your horse may struggle with certain aspects of performance, and help you develop a plan to assist your horse to be its best within its capabilities. We are the musculoskeletal health and biomechanics specialists of your horses team. 💙
Help us help your horse. Build a great team, and listen well to them.
Molly dozing through her PEMF session 💕
We are helping her with some pain in her stifle (possible arthritis) and some swollen and uncomfortable pads of her feet
This is Apollo, who has been limping on the right front. The video on the left is him walking prior to having a session with me and the video on the right is a couple of days after 1 pemf (pulsed electromagnetic field therapy) session. As you can see, he has greatly improved after just one session! I see him every couple of weeks currently for maintenance as it is suspected that he could have osteoarthritis due to his age, but this has not been vet diagnosed.
Pemf decreases inflammation, decreases pain, speeds up healing, and encourages every cell in the body to “wake up” and function better/as they should. The best part is, it has very few contraindications and it works so well!!!
I stopped in at The Fox & Hound Christmas open house this morning and had an amazing time! There are so many great vendors, a tour of the space, food and drinks, entertainment, and I even became a secret santa for a dog at the Sarnia Humane Society! I also picked up some cute Christmas presents for my puppies 💕. Make sure you stop by for a visit!
Come out and support the Brigden community at “A Little Country Christmas” this Saturday, November 19th from 2-8pm. I have donated a gift basket with some dog treats, horse treats, a dog toy, a lead rope for horses, and a gift certificate for my services. There are several more generous gift baskets available as well as many great vendors for Christmas shopping, places to donate gifts and non-perishable food for those in need, and even a visit from Santa!!
****Appointments Available****
I will be travelling to the Ridgetown area Saturday, November 26th. I have a few dog or horse appointment availabilities for massage, red light, or pemf if anyone in the surrounding area or anyone in between Brigden and Ridgetown would like to book anything. Please contact me on Facebook, Instagram, or on my cell phone at 519-330-7412 if you are interested.
Hey There Delilah had some pampering today after competing hard all summer. She enjoyed some massage and pemf before she starts her winter series of competitions. Such a sweet girl to work on ☺️
KS Equine & K9 Massage not only offers massage therapy, but also red light therapy, pulsed electromagnetic field therapy (PEMF), therapeutic exercises/stretching, and coming soon, kinesiology taping for both horses and dogs! The best part is, I travel to you! Contact me on Facebook, Instagram, or text/call 519-330-7412 to book an appointment.
Another chance to practice kinesiology taping! My own dog, Maddi has has a very swollen and painful toe for 5 days now and is limping pretty badly. We have an X-ray booked, she is getting pain medication, I am using my red light therapy on it, and I am taping it just in case it is broken. The squiggly taping is to increase circulation to help decrease the swelling. The two toes are taped together for support in case it is broken 😞.
Happy Thanksgiving from my crazy crew! I have so so much to be very thankful for! I hope everyone got to spend time with their friends and family this Thanksgiving weekend!
Crosby was really enjoying his pemf session today. This is the first time in the 3 years that I have been working on him that I’ve genuinely seen him so relaxed and happy during a session. This is not a horse that likes to be worked on, picked at, or even brushed, and his body language and actions always tells you EXACTLY how he is feeling/thinking. He hurt his shoulders/neck a few weeks ago and we have been working on getting him feeling better. It really warmed my heart to see him enjoying his session today and clearly feeling so much better!
Practicing my taping techniques for pain, support, and improving circulation and proprioception on poor Maddi who is having none of it!
