JohnMoss began as an independent side project in 2008, as guitarist/vocalist Andrew John Moss Hannig attended Baylor University.

Out of a desire to create listenable music for friends and engage difficult discussions within navigating humanity and faith, the first album Sunsets on the Ground was released (2008). Five hundred years later (actually 8), the idea for his sophomore album Love Reform (2016) came about from a simple question of "what would it look like to actually love and care for those around us."
