When we work alone it’s easy to think we have to do it alone. I’d like to lean into shifting that mindset.
It takes a village to build a business … who will you invite into yours?
I personally believe lack of boundaries is one of the biggest contributors to fatigue, overwhelm, and burnout.
Boundaries are kind - something my people-pleasing past self REALLY had to get her head around.
Expressing your needs allows people to show up for you - something that I found super TOUGH during my more co-dependent relationships.
Being direct fosters clear relationships - something I only mastered POST complete nervous exhaustion.
Cultivating boundaries is difficult, but in terms of your energy, anxiety, and nervous system, they're essential.

People-pleasing serviced based biz owners please take note!
▫️Their sense of urgency does not have to be yours.
▫️Their need for you to reply, like yesterday, does not have to be your problem.
▫️Their need for an answer right NOW, actually doesn't have to concern you (hello Google and resources you've likely already shared).
▪️It is ok to stop if your nervous system is over-revved.
▪️It is ok to ignore messages and turn your phone off.
▪️You can also have a break from IG and not have to announce yourself "off" and "on".
▪️You can also take a few days out of your inbox "just because".
▪️You're also allowed to simply not reply to brain pickers in your DMs.
Crazy ideas huh?
This behaviour is actually ruining you energy, and your health. And in turn impacting your business (don't ask me how I know).
▫️Overfunctioning isn't the answer.
▫️Dealing with everyone else's needs before your own actually doesn't give you the space you think it will.
It isn't easy and it won't be easy to shift these deeply ingrained patterns. This is why even though we work alone, we shouldn't be trying to do it all alone.
Find your tribe, lean into online communities, get 1-1 help. It actually takes a village to build a business!
I’d also add:
Don’t get the support to deal with these demands.
Are unable to get to the root cause of the contributing internal stressors.
Keep hearing you’re “fine” and are being made to feel it’s all in your head.
Feel helpless to change your situation as you don’t know what to do …
Or how to do what you know you need!
Burnout is real. Don’t let anyone medically gaslight you out of that (big words, I know).
If you’re NO longer bouncing back, more than anything I want you to know that dragging your feet through each day and relying on willpower to "get it done"
OR crossing your fingers when you go to bed hoping that tomorrow will be better does NOT have to be your norm.
AND there are reasons you feel the way you do, and ways to find them.
Life is hard enough without health symptoms and constantly directing your time and energy to manage chronic unwellness.
I get it because I’ve been there, more than once (you can read the about page via my profile for the full guts and glory story if it tickles your fancy).

Once upon a time, I was an over-caffeinated, over-worked, under-slept, full-of-symptoms-and-no-solutions Personal Trainer, and a less-than-Zen Yoga Teacher.
Every day was an uphill battle of managing symptoms, navigating energy levels, and figuring out what on earth to try next.
Not to mention endless mindset blocks that made me question everything.
I looked the part, but I definitely didn't feel it! And I managed to burn myself out living this way, more than just once.
In my 30s I finally pushed myself to a point I wasn’t bouncing back.
A 20-minute walk around the block would have me on the couch for an hour recovering. And often I’d be too dizzy to get even myself to the supermarket - let alone consider tackling the important and rewarding things in life!
I set off to find answers … and we all know how that part goes.
2 years of bouncing around in the medical system and thousands of dollars later, I was led to further my studies and redirect my professional focus from fitness - to wellness:

Not all stress is created equal. So how we deal with it needs to be more than "self-care" alone.

DUTCH COMPLETE
The Dried Urine Test for Comprehensive Hormones (DUTCH) is just that: comprehensive!
Not only does it show free hormone levels (what’s unbound and available), but also the body’s production (what’s actually being made) and metabolites (where it’s going).
It has markers for DHEA, DHEA-S, free cortisol, metabolised cortisol, progesterone, estrogens, estrogen clearance pathways, testosterone, and cortisone/cortisol preference.
It highlights fluctuations in the circadian rhythm, melatonin, and has 6 organic acid markers: HVA (dopamine), VMA (epinephrine), kynurenate (B6), MMA (B12), pyroglutamate (glutathione) and 8-OHdG (oxidative damage).
All this gives us clues as to what direct areas of imbalance the body might be struggling with so we know exactly what things YOU need to focus on!

If you don't prioritise your life, someone else will.

Twice a week I have a meeting with myself. I review my goals, my week/month/quarter, my finances, my self-care … I review the intentionality of my life.
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
I reflect, “am I prioritising what’s important, or am I letting life run me?”
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
Being a late-diagnosed ADHD female, this has not, and does not, come easy to me.
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
But … for me, that is more reason it’s so important!

I also know now, at 40 years old, that “later” is not a time to wait for. And that thinking ahead, NOW, is the ONLY way I’m able to get things done.

This isn’t about being a or even *tdone

It IS about:
→ looking after my health

It’s about having a say in what's going on in my calendar and creating a structure for

For me, personally, it's also about what feels possible. And cultivating more of that

→ Start reactively, and it continues that way.

💡 TIPS FOR FOCUS: Whether you’re a babe trying to it at life, or a boss trying to babe it in … or a babe/boss with I got some tips to help you with focus.
→ Stay off your phone as much as possible in the AM. If you flood your brain with dopamine at the top part of the day you’re going to struggle for the rest of it (legit, try it and see).
→ Do some movement first, ideally with sun on your face. It helps wake you, and your brain, up.
→ Do a quick journal and overview of what you need to get done BEFORE you get started. Think Google maps but for your tasks. If you get lost, refer back to this list.
→ On this list, add your intentions. Being emotionally connected to what you’re doing makes a HUGE difference.
→ Set a timer, things expand to the container you give them. Create a smaller container and try and get it done before the timer goes off (this is also amazing for us with time blindness).
→ Change your location. Even if it’s just somewhere else around your house. Outside and out of the house (as pictured) works best for me.
→ If you start to fade out, take a break, maybe head over to my website and read the blog on, “How to get sh*t done … without burning out” 😉
→ Notifications. Tune them off. Enough said.
What helps you stay intentional and gives you a sense of being a bit more “together” when it comes to 👇🏼
Sugar coating has its place, 100%. But when you’re over it and need someone to help you get to the bottom of what’s holding you back … you want someone who will tell it to you straight. Because you’ve got more important sh*t to be doing then dealing with fatigue and overwhelm every. damn. day.⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀

BIZ | About as real as it gets with some BTS smack talk. If anything in biz has ever taken you MUCH longer than it “should” … you’re going to want to watch this. I made it for my biz mentees but it’s too hilarious not to share 😆

HEALTH | As great as our healthcare system is in Australia, Medicare only covers fees for tests that keep us disease-free and out of pathological states. They don’t cover fees for services that get/keep us in an optimal state. Functional lab tests (like the ones listed on my website) are unfortunately not currently covered by Medicare or by private health funds. This is true with all functional and non-medical driven testing through any practitioner.⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
Some doctors are open-minded and will run additional testing, but this is generally blood testing for the purpose of looking for major dysfunction, not optimal function. Theirs is a “diagnose and treat” model, whereas most people with chronic un-wellness need more than this approach. If your doctor does run any functional testing or advanced blood work outside of this model, there’s usually still an out-of-pocket fee paid to the lab running the test.⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
