With funding from Humanities Nebraska and Nebraska Cultural Endowment, we are bringing Salome Agbaroji (the U.S. Youth Poet Laureate), Tony McPherson, and George Abraham to Nebraska.
Each writer will lead a FREE workshop and give a public performance during their stay. Show some love and help us welcome Salome, Tony, and George!

Hey folks!
Omaha Poetry Slam has moved under the protective and providing umbrella of Nebraska Writers Collective, and become a monthly public event in their offerings. This will allow for more feature performers, more community involvement, and generally a better resource for community poets and audiences.
I've tried to be a steady hand on the tiller for eight years, and I'll still be here to pitch in whenever and however I can as host, bout manager, and stream support. This additional support will lead to growth and great things.

Danny Solis performed his work in Omaha numerous times, and was a light and inspiration for poets worldwide with his incredible poetic talent. More than that, he was a community leader and father.
In place of donations for this month's slam, we recommend that anyone who can do so give to his memorial fund. May his memory be a blessing.

We've got a great group of writers for this event, including OEAA winners for Best Performance Poet, a published author from Button Poetry, a co-founder of All Writes Reserved, and also Greg Harries!
We'll be writing poetry inspired by your pets and delivering them by Wednesday night. We will do their best to capture their poetic essence!

Our Story
Omaha Poetry Slam has been bringing art to Omaha for over 15 years, and our summer outings are what keep our community fresh and engaged. In St. Louis and Portland we will network and share with poets from around the world, take workshops, and bring what we learn back to Omaha. All team members work with the Nebraska Writers Collective, teaching poetry in schools throughout Nebraska. The lessons learned on our trips will expand our knowledge base and make it so we can better help our students.
Donations! The budget for this campaign is to raise money for our travel and lodging. Any excess money will be utilized for future registration fees of other regional poetry competitions
Our registration is paid for both festivals, now it's just a matter of getting our team there. We have an alternate team member waiting in the wings, should anything stand in the way of the five poets selected in our qualifier attending the festivals.
