Ok so it's been sometime since I did this. But just to let people know the amount of mentally unstable and sad people there are on TT.

Surface rust can be removed without too much extra effort. How can you tell its not surface rust? If it has grooves and and bubbles its more than surface rust but that can also be Temporarily repaired by sanding and putting bondo over the area.

But most of the time the chips on the lip of your hood and fenders is just surface and will sand out. But FYI the moment you have large sections like the picture below of rust spots get them fixed so rust doesn't spread.

BTW we don't charge extra for small spots of rust unless bondo is needed. Reach out for free estimates.

Ever wondered what the big deal is with having clear coat on your car?

Clear is considered the UV protection on your vehicle its usually glossy but can also be a matte. Its not the color which is called the base. Its literally a clear resin that goes over the base (or color) to help keep the color from fading or peeling. Even though clear is called UV protection, it doesn't mean that its 100% Protection. It doesn't actually stop the uv rays from harming the pigments in the color. In fact no matter how expensive of a clear or base you use after about 2 to 5 years the color of your car will not be exactly the same. Colors (especially reds) fade with time and extended exposure to sunlight. Clears do the same thing, they will fade, crack and peel off. You can't prevent this unless you keep it in storage and never drive it. Which isn't practical.

Most cars you see that have the longest lasting paint jobs are usually high dollar restorations most of the time these are classic vehicles. This is for 2 reasons. The vehicles paint is stripped off its taken back to bare metal and then worked back up with more to the process then even the paint manufacturers do. 2nd is becuase those classics are stored in climate controlled garages and are rarely driven except for occasionally weekends and shows so they don't experience Acid Rain, Hail prolonged sun damage or the salts and other chemicals put on roads that break down clears.

ALLOT of shops will label themselves C(K)ustom or Restoration shops but they don't actually do all the steps involved. Rather they skip the ones they feel aren't needed or perhaps they don't even know its done a certain way. They usually just call themselves Custom or restoration becuase its a cool name and have no idea what the name is supposed to mean.

All that to say I don't claim to be anything iam not. Iam a production shop I'm not promising a paint job that is perfection or that it will last you a lifetime. Becuase Nothing is infallible least of all the clear that begins to fail the moment the sun hits it. And to ensure your paint job has the longest life it can we make sure to use only products JP has used and watched the durability of in his 35+ year career. Here's a scammer. We won't ask people for money over the Internet. Deposits are always and have been done in person when a vehicle is dropped off. They gave this shops name and address (don't believe they're involved) just who they gave when I pushed

For anyone wanting to know who we are. JP Auto Paint Works is a family run business. John and his daughter Cynthia run day to day operations, both painters. John or JP has 35 years experience working in all facets of the automotive paint industry. He has done collision, show car, restorations and Production (macco). When starting JP auto paint works we initially set up pricing for car dealers. (Doing parts) We quickly learned dealers were picker than show car customers so decided to open as a production paint shop for customers.

Our first ads ran on Craigslist becuase Facebook marketplace didn't exist... our first customer we did was $350 for a peeling green Honda sedan. who had been quoted 5k from other shops even macco wanted $1,200 for a single stage. (We only do 2 stage base clear) When it was finished She didn't care that her paint job wasn't absolutely perfect that it hadnt been wet sanded and buffed. She just wanted the peeling paint gone and for it to look nice and shiny again. Giving new life to the car that ran and drove great but wouldn't fetch 5k at auction. Thus JP auto paint was born. We set all our prices and never looked back.

Most importantly we NEVER look down on what a customer drives and would NEVER tell you that your vechicle isn't worth a paint job becuase its blue book value is less than the cost of paint...
