Our Story...

Made by Dee - QLD is based on the Southern Downs and Granite Belt of Queensland in Australia. First and foremost a wife and mum to two busy boys, Dee likes to find time to create ‘on the side’! #mumhustle

Dee first started sewing for her mum's small sewing business while still in high school, before heading into a career in early childhood education & care. Growing up there were always trips to the local fabric & haby stores, tagging along to mum’s pattern-making classes or helping screen-print the school uniform tees! *very snazzy!* School holidays were spent watching Grandma with various needlework or clothes- alterations in progress (and there was lots of fig jam making and baking too). ....Yet, every time Dee set out to sew for herself... she found she was unpicking - a lot!!! (Talk about a kill joy!)

Since becoming a stay-at-home mum, the trusty ‘brother’ sewing machine has been dusted off and more recently joined by ‘janome’ overlocker to make a very useful pair! The mantra “Unpicking is your friend” (once shared by a wise friend) has become a well worn phrase... and Dee is creating once again! #iamturningintomymother

Whilst most creations Dee made initially were born out of necessity, the requests from family and friends has grown and varied to include children’s clothes... (yay for some girly dresses!), bunting, hanging hand towels/washers, cushion covers, water -resistant zipper pouches and totes. . . and the ideas just keep coming.
