MMICARE 's disaster response at Taman Damai 2, Kapar. Flood victims were given a basic health checkup and deworming even as we continue the daily hot cooked food supply for affected families, which started on Dec 19th. Basic dry provisions were also collected and provided yesterday. The response and request has been overwhelming, as many lost everything in the recent flood devastation. Clean- up is ongoing, so this makeshift tent set -up was hosted by one of the families in the area. Thank you to all who worked on-site and behind the scenes to make this happen , MrsPushparani Thilaganathan and Pastor Mageson, the doctors who volunteered ; Dr. Dhivya Dhyana , Dr Sobana Muthu, Dr Sumitra Ropini Karuthan and our MMICARE volunteers and past winners Rebecca Segran , Tharani Shanmuga Nathan , Tulasi Appalasamy, Mohanaapriya Sina Raja and friends. Thank you to everyone who donated supplies. We will be holding another session of the medical camp in early Jan. Many thanks to our supporters BNM Volunteers and IMU Cares

UPDATES: In early August, due to the overwhelming pleas for food and provisons, MMICARE had reached out to Kechara Soup Kitchen's Food Bank to assist us with some rations for our Emergency Food Baskets (EFB). Last Saturday (Sept 25) the Kechara Food Bank truck and team rolled into Taman Damai in Kapar and helped distribute 10kg rice bags, sugar, oil, flour, canned food and detergent to 44 families on our extended Covid-19 database. MMICARE additionally also distributed 50 trays (1500) eggs sponsored by Dr Devamalar Naicker. A big thank you to Mr Justin from Kechara for being supportive of our reachouts. Our gratitudes also go out to Mr Mageson, our anchorman, in Kapar and the MMICARE team, Mohanaapriya, Sandhya, Tharani and Pavithra and MelissaAnne. Meanwhile MMICAREs online tuition programme for our children and weekly vegetable supplies to our Kapar families continue thanks to Yayasan Asiaworks and Magpies. Thank you for your kindness.

It’s Aug 16, 2021 and there’s no sign of an end-date to MCO3.0. There is prevailing confusion, fear, frustration, deaths and despondence on the ground. It’s been a busy 60 days since our last post, we are continuing distribution efforts even as we write this update..We have actively been distributing meals during this lockdown. Our weekly vegetable supply reaches at least 50 families. Thus far we have distributed food baskets (EFBs) to 467 families in Kapar, Meru, Kuala Selangor, Petaling Jaya, Sunway, Shah Alam, Sabah (Kota Belud and Kota Marudu) and Sarawak (Lawas and Kapit). The distribution continues.

Our warm gratitude goes out to Ms Mei and team@Yayasan Asiaworks, Mr Puven & team@Magpies, Ms Suraya and team and Mr Justin& team@ Kechara for aiding this distribution programme. Thank you for your kindness.

A big thank you also goes out to our caring MMICARE members especially MelissaAnne W, Dr Mohanaapriya S, Tharani S, Pavithra P, Uma T, Gowri A, Dr Dhivya S, Dr Sumitra S (Swak), Syamala R, Harini S, and Dr Shamala V for helping with this MCO3.0.

Our gratitudes also goes out to Ms Agnes Padan&team in Lawas Sarawak and Mr Kanul Gindol&team Initiatives For Civil Society Borneo in Kota Belud, Sabah..thank you kindly!

Meanwhile we have stepped up our commitment In KAPAR. We have resumed online tuition for our Form 4&5 students in view of SPM2021 being held in March and November 2022. Much has been lost in terms of educational progress since MCO1.0.

This pandemic has been exceptionally challenging for children in the lower M40 and B40 families. Year 2021 has seen families in Kapar and Meru (deep red zones) losing loved ones and breadwinners to Covid19. These families are struggling to cope on multiple levels. We are doing what little we can to ease their needs. Thank you to one and all for keeping us going in these challenging times. Thank you all for your kindness and trust🙏🏾

June 13, 2021. Its been about 130 days since our last update. We are now in the midst of MCO 3.0 which will hopefully end on June 28. We have been quiet since the last MCO, mostly because we are pandemic-tired and worn-out like everyone else. We put ourselves on hold because of the high levels of community infection. We are an NGO managed entirely by volunteers. During MCO2.0 we reached 400 families in Selangor, Kuala Lumpur, Perak, Penang, Johor, Pahang and Sabah thanks to our donors, members, volunteers and onground partners. Throughout this pandemic our responsibilities and food baskets to MMICARE beneficiary families and children in KAPAR have remained a top priority. However since earlier this week, we have been receiving calls, whatsapp messages and emails from as far as Sarawak and Sabah for food assistance, which we now really cannot ignore. With schools closed, the highest level of community infections and almost everyone staying at home, consumption has increased and the daily wage earners/ casual labourers are struggling once again. The poor within the city and outside, aged, disabled, stateless and refugees need our help. We have pleas for food, vegetables and our Emergency Food Baskets (EFBs). So we will once again resume offering our EFBs to the needy. We will again reach out to you and ask for your faith and support. Thank you.

Feb 2, 2021. It’s 21 days since the second movement control order (MCO2.0) began and we have been on the ground distributing meal packs and our Emergency Food Baskets (EFB). The situation on the ground has not improved, in fact it feels worse than before. We are inundated with requests for our basic EFB. There are more homeless people now, jobs are scarce, fear and discrimination rampant and the future remains uncertain and bleak. Since Jan 18, the freshly crowned winners of the MISS and MRS MalaysiaIndian Global (MMIGLOBAL) 2020 have been fundraising and distributing provisions to families in Batu Caves, Petaling Utama, Chowkit, Meru, Buntong (Perak) and in Seremban as part of their commitment to community care. (the essence of MMIGLOBAL). So far they have reached out to 145 families. Their distributions will continue over the coming weekends in Perak, Seremban, Johor and Penang. A big thank you goes out to MISS MMIGLOBAL 2020 winners Sareeka (Penang/Kedah), Veenaa (Selangor) and Aissvarya (NegriSembilan) and MRS MMIGLOBAL 2020 winners Then Mozhi (Perak), Manoranjennie (Johor) and Vinothini (Serlangor)for jumping in and getting the EFBs going quite literally door-to-door. Meanwhile MMICARE team is also running parallel EFB and ready-meal distributions in several places thanks to our onground partners Magpie and BNM volunteers.
