Grevelis Racing Stable
Horse racing management and partnerships. We run year round but at Canterbury Park in the summers.
Sarge’s Sermon will try and make it two in a row on July 3 Canterbury Park for the Next Level Canterbury Group. He’s moving up in class and it’ll be a tough one, but looking forward to cheering him on! If you come out, don’t forget to stay for the best fireworks show in Minnesota after the races!
A pair of seconds about a 1/2 hour apart today.
Heroic Song was second in a starter Canterbury Park while Bandera Azteca was second in an allowance at Lone Star Park.
Thanks to all getting them ready for the races. Maybe next time for both
The best that Heroic Song could do was a 3rd in his starter allowance at Canterbury today, though he ran hard at a distance that was a little too short for him.
Bandera Azteca had an “enterprising trip” and just had nothing late at Lone Star.
Rough day, but everyone is healthy and we’ll be back!
Next up: Birdie Be Gone in the Lady Slipper Stakes next Saturday!
Looking ahead to a busy weekend next weekend:
Sarge’s Sermon - Saturday at Canterbury
Heroic Song - Sunday at Canterbury
Bandera Azteca - Sunday at Lone Star
Good girl, Birdie! Wins going away in the 6th Canterbury Park under Luis Fuentes for Mike Biehler! Great job all!!! She didn’t let Kevin down!!
Birdie Be Gone starts her Canterbury Park season on Saturday in a starter optional claimer. She’s the 5/2 morning line favorite but will be breaking from post 10 in the 6F sprint.
Unfortunately we were run down late and had to settle for second. The upside is: we still have the condition! And at least second paid the monthly bills too. He’ll be back!
Bandera Azteca takes on allowance foes in the Lone Star 8th today. Good luck Team Breakaway!
The good news is that we beat our nemesis. The bad news is that we finished 2nd to a 14-1 shot. 🤦🏻♂️
Less than 20 minutes and Bandera Azteca will make his final start of the Oaklawn meet. He’s up against his nemesis but we hope to turn the tables today. Safe travels!
Welcome to the Stable, Heroic Song. Claimed out of Will Rogers yesterday, he’ll be heading to Minnesota under the tutelage of Mike Biehler. Save travels and see you soon!
Welp…as good a week as we had a couple of weeks ago, it was nearly the polar opposite this week. Bandera Azteca was declared a non-starter in his race today because the “starter still had a hold of him.” We were in with a chance for a $62,000 purse. The good news is the boy appears to have come out none the worse for wear.
Best of luck to our Breakaway Stables runner, Bandera Azteca, at Oaklawn this afternoon. He’ll have to overcome post 12 but we have faith in him and Ricardo Santana. Safe travels boys!
Not the outcome we hoped for in the Wilma Mankiller at Will Rogers today for Birdie, but she ran well. She was stuck out in Post 10 and, as you can see, was wide throughout. Not much Triana could do with the cards he was dealt. We’ll evaluate how she came back and go from there though as a Minnesota bred we’ll wait until Canterbury Park for her next start.
Pretty exciting day for our Pony Up Racing as Birdie Be Gone heads postward in the $50,000 Wilma Mankiller Stakes at Cherokee Casino at Will Rogers Downs. Mired in post 10 for the 6F dash, Alfredo Triana is going to have his work cut out for him! Best of luck and safe travels!
Two for the weekend! This time at Oaklawn in the 4th - Bandera Azteca takes the win and doesn’t get claimed. Great job by Karl Broberg and his team and Harry Hernandez aboard.
GAME DAY! Best of luck to Bandera Azteca today at Oaklawn for our Breakaway group!
A nice return to the races for our Minnesota bred mare, Birdie Be Gone at Cherokee Casino at Will Rogers Downs! Fellow Canterbury connections, Barry and Joni Butzow’s Sea Level was second completing the Mike Biehler exacta!
In a couple of hours our Minnesota bred, Birdie Be Gone, makes her seasonal debut at Will Rogers Downs. Best of luck girl, safe travels!
Rounding back into action:
Birdie Be Gone returns to the races in a week at Will Rogers;
Sarge’s Sermon continues to get ready for a debut at CBY or maybe even LS is he’s ready;
Bandera Azteca is ready to go if we can get a race to fill at Oaklawn;
Our Doubke Down Racing is looking for a horse.
Welcome to the stable Bandera Azteca, claimed after winning the 5th at Oaklawn today. Thank you and best of luck with him, Karl Broberg!
Wrapping up 2023, each of the four groups we run had at least one win. The total stat line for the year was:
32 starts: 7 wins; 4 seconds and 4 thirds with total earnings of $90,360
The win percentage was 21.9% and an in the money percentage of 46.9%.
All of the credit goes to our trainers and their teams this year: Michael Biehler; Karl Broberg and Nevada Litfin.
Looking forward to see what 2024 brings!
Happy Birthday to thoroughbreds everywhere, but especially Birdie and Sarge! Let’s make 2024 year to remember!
Huge thanks to Mike, Stewart, Jennifer and Birdie Be Gone herself winning her 3rd in her last 4 races, turning the tables on Mariah’s Candy who handed her her only Re*****on loss last out! Well done team and well done grey girl!
It was the closest of margins, but Birdie gets it done at Re*****on, winning her second in a row and, with Santangelo, making it our third win in as many tries in Oklahoma!! Way to go girl!!
Safe travels and best of luck for our Pony Up Racing’s Birdie Be Gone in the opener at Re*****on Park tonight!
Way to go, Santangelo! She makes it two for two for us at Re*****on in the 6th for Breakaway Stables under Gerardo Mora for trainer Karl Broberg. Unfortunately she was claimed from us, but we wish her the best going forward. Congratulations team!!
Best of luck to Santangelo tonight in the 6th at Re*****on for our Breakaway Stables under Gerardo Mora for trainer Karl Broberg. Safe travels!
What a way to start off our Re*****on meet with Birdie Be Gone, charging down the lane under Stewart Elliot in the opener tonight!
