"Care coordination provides an excellent and meaningful support for the families of complex neonates throughout their hospitalization. Their services exceed expectations of the families and medical teams as they are able to provide a lot of insight to family situations outside of the hospital and act as excellent longitudinal resources between medical teams, sub-specialists, case management, and the families.

Their family support goes beyond expectations as they prepare the families in all aspects of their child's care to be successful at home (this includes creating timing charts to remember when medications/feedings are due and color-coding medications on the labels and the timing charts).

The support from the care coordination team also goes beyond inpatient care for the families and spills over into outpatient support allowing for smooth transitions to their outpatient primary care providers and additional complex care providers and sub-specialists, including frequent follow-ups with the families. Throughout LHL’s journey, we have been fortunate to meet many incredible people. One of them is Katy Green - who is the mother of Charlotte - one of LHL’s first enrolled Little Heroes.

Katy’s experience with Charlotte’s complex medical journey inspired her to write her first children’s book “My Scars, My Brave Adventure.” Katy’s dream is for Charlotte and other kids who read the book to celebrate what makes them unique, feel confident, and honor their bravery.

CELEBRATE!
We are thrilled to share that Little Heroes League has been selected as the primary beneficiary of the 2023 Northwestern University Dance Marathon (NUDM)! 
 
This incredible opportunity will broaden visibility to our mission, and most importantly, allow us to serve more Little Heroes and their families. This award will allow us to serve hundreds of Little Heroes and their families in the Chicagoland area through 2026. It will also allow us to invest in our future and serve more Little Heroes across the United States.


WHAT'S NEXT?
LHL will partner with NUDM over the next 10 months. This partnership will culminate in a 30 (!) hour dance marathon in March 2023. In addition to supporting multiple NUDM events throughout the year, LHL will help connect dancers with our mission by providing service and education opportunities that will include Lurie Children's Hospital NICU tours and meeting directly with Little Heroes and their families! 

About Northwestern University Dance Marathon:
Now in its 49th year, NUDM is one of largest entirely student-run philanthropies in the nation. Every year, 1000+ dancers and committee members come together to create NUDM and dance for 30 hours straight to benefit NUDM’s primary and secondary beneficiaries. NUDM selects a different primary beneficiary annually, and NUDM’s long-standing secondary beneficiary is The Evanston Community Foundation. Since 1975, NUDM has raised more than $22 million for more than 30 different charitable organizations. .

A HUGE thank you to Orangetheory Fitness and their community. Over the past several weeks, they have been busy supporting our charity. And they came out in full force yesterday. Congrats to Jonathan and Alan who won the bags tournament! They earned themselves 2 months of unlimited OTF membership and $150 Amazon gift cards!
