Years ago I moved to Vail and decided I wanted to teach myself to snowboard. As I headed out one of the first days, the guy next to me on the lift said “if you aren’t falling, you’re not trying hard enough” 😉

But isn’t that the truth? You have to fail to succeed. You have to choose to do something hard to improve. YOU can do hard things.

I’m a dork, but I was feeling overwhelmed and run down and decided to take myself to my favorite place to sweat and get quiet. BOOM. It’s like magic. Lights me up to be in nature, get the blood pumping and have a quiet moment for my soul.

I had a workout planned for today, but NOPE! My body was screaming at me from yesterday so I’m shifting. Getting in a good long hike in instead. But still getting out there and getting moving and enjoying nature in the meantime. Maybe even a lakeside meditation in the mix 🧘🏼‍♀️ What’s your favorite active recovery?

I just finished the MOST CHALLENGING yoga class I’ve taken to date. Pushed every limit. I wasn’t expecting it. And I could’ve stopped. Or left. But where would that get me? Being uncomfortable is hard. But it’s growth. There’s a quote I love “life begins at the edge of your comfort zone”. When is the last time you challenged yourself?

It’s been a FULL week, but woke up stoked for today! Every day is a new chance to work on yourself and take a time step closer to what you’re trying to achieve. I’m still rehabbing my shoulder and getting back into my pull-ups. But I added another rep!

Long day? Short on funds? It can still be done! This mahi, cabbage, potatoes dish cost me less than $3.50 per serving and took 15 min to make! 40g protein 20g carb and lots of goodness!

What do you want to accomplish today that feels HARD? Does it feel like a Monday? Yup. Did I get up when my alarm went off and think about what it would take to give myself that check mark of accomplishment for one small task today? Yup. Here I am. Knocking out some stairs. And I already feel better. Whew! And guess what? I GET another chance to push through again tomorrow to keep building that inner bada$$ery. What do you want to accomplish TODAY only?

I can so often just barrel through toward a goal without specific organization. Once I started getting super organized about setting myself up well, that’s when CHANGE started happening. Here are the 8 areas I find so powerful in reaching my health and fitness goals.
1. VISION: what do I want to achieve
2. WHY: why do I want it
3. COMMITMENT: what is it worth to me to get there
4. HABITS: what am I doing to get there
5. COMMUNITY: who am I surrounding myself with
6. ACCOUNTABILITY: how am I making sure I do it
7. EVALUATION: checking in on progress asking the way
8. FLEXIBILITY: how open am I to adjusting as necessary
What are you trying to achieve and where can you dig in to set yourself up better?

Who wants to boost their immune system? Especially these days?! I DO! Here are some proven ways to naturally do that:
1. WATER: stay hydrated and your body functions more optimally
2. SLEEP: At least 7 hours of sleep for adults releases cytokines and T helper cells
3. EXERCISE: At least 30 minutes of exercise most days of the week reduces inflammation and builds up immune cells
4. WHOLE FOODS: Gets those fruits and veggies in for more antioxidants
5. HEALTHY FATS: nuts and seeds and avocados will help decrease inflammation
6. FERMENTED FOODS/PROBIOTICS: Get that gut healthy! 80% of your immunity comes from the gut.. healthy bacteria is key
7. MEDITATION: close your eyes and open up space in your mind. It reduces inflammation and boosts immune cell function
