I usually try to read ARCs a little closer to the publication date...but how about I just start talking about this one now? That way you have time to get your hands on Emily Wilde's Encyclopaedia of Faeries and Emily Wilde's Map of the Otherlands and read them BEFORE πŸ„ Emily Wilde's Compendium of Lost Tales 🌻 releases in February!

Emily is a curmudgeonly little scholar who just happens to have caught the attention and affection of Wendell, who just happens to actually be a fae king! He is capricious and powerful and utterly devoted to Emily, ink stained fingers and all! I just love these two! So go track down books 1 and 2 so you are ready for the third book of the series in February!

Next up! Have you read any of the fairy books? I ran across this rather charming vintage paperback edition that I had never seen before and I just had to pick it up! I love the black and white drawings throughout, and I'm looking forward to this as a follow-up after finishing arc of my Emily Wilde and the Compendium of Lost Tales!

This one has already been claimed, but I just had to show it to you! This is the Professor Sprout candle, scented in sage and bergamot, and I just think she is so perfect! There's something magical to me in the way that my daughter looks at a teacup pattern and pairs it with a scent that so perfectly represents a favorite fictional character! And in this case, this earthy and simple teacup is just right for our favorite herbology professor! What do you think? What book character fits this teacup candle?

Oh, hey! It's Elizabeth Bennet! Scroll to see the inspiration! We've got literary candIes representing characters from Anne of Green Gables to Professor Sprout coming up soon! This Pride and Prejudice candIe was just added today!

Happy birthday to Ray Bradbury, born Aug 22, 1920! Fahrenheit 451 is such a legendary work...I read it again two years ago, having not read it since high school, and I was stunned by it. So thankful for authors who spur our minds and hearts to understand the world and make it better!

Just a bit of wisdom from Merlin and the Magic Treehouse for your Wednesday morning! We're navigating all kinds of problems in our home right now! Maybe some family reading from The Magic Treehouse books is in order! ☺️πŸͺ„βœ¨

I love how this came out, and am still laughing about Repicheep and his sword with a grapevine wrapped around it! Such a funny book spine illustration! Prince Caspian and Sense and Sensibility definitely ended up being my favorites, with the Works of Oscar Wilde being a close second!

Oh, no! I missed National Relaxation Day yesterday! You?

I had every intention of observing this important day...πŸ˜‚ Truth is, my husband and I are pretty dedicated to the principle of the day's work ending by 8pm! That includes job work AND housework! So I actually did get some time to paint and read my book last night! It did make me laugh though to realize that our national observance of relaxation is on a weekday. Better chance of people making it happen on a Sunday, I think!

Did you get a chance to unwind yesterday???

I let my daughter pick a color 🎨 palette (she said terracotta with sage & navy) and then we ran all over the house picking out books to fit! I just needed a little bookstack project tonight, and I rather love the fall vibes this one is going to have! Maybe it'll go on the mantel for fall!

I love doing custom bookstack paintings! They make a really meaningful portrait of a person at a moment in time! Comment below if you'd like more information on how the custom bookstack process works!

My second birdhouse! 🐦 I am so happy with him! He is almost a full pound lighter than the first one I made as well! The question is this: will I be brave enough to hang this birdhouse up, or will I worry about it falling and breaking???

In honor of World Elephant Day, I'm sharing my favorite elephant book! Kate DiCamillo's books are pure magic for kids and adults alike, and I LOVED this one!

My favorite place for keeping up with my real life elephant friend is where you can see baby elephant videos on the regular! β™₯️🐘 Hop in my stories for a picture of me with the baby elephants!

Today I'm kicking off my 18th year of homeschooling! I thought I'd be done by now, but our blessed little caboose surprise baby changed things! We originally started homeschooling, thinking it would be a season. But I quickly realized that I loved the schedule flexibility of teaching the kids at home, I really enjoyed teaching them to read, I loved diving into art projects with them, and we just never looked back! One of my kids has graduated college, one is in college, one is blazing a brand new trail in a traditional high school (which she adores!) and now it's just me and my little guy at home! There are hard and miserable days, but I still think the good outweighs the bad and this is where we are for now!

This first photo is of my dad and his sister on their first day of school way back in the 1950s! The second photo is a throwback to my own kids and our little school set up when they were tiny! β™₯️

If you think it was today, say a little prayer for us! Adjustment and transition was hard, even when you homeschool!

I did an actual squeal and jumped up and down when I was notified that I was approved for this ARC from ! The Emily Wilde books have been some of my favorite new fantasy to come out over the past few years, and has created two of my all time favorite book characters in Emily and Wendell. This doesn't release until early next year...so I'll read it now, and then as soon as my hard copy arrives I'll read it again! 🌻 πŸ„

I have been taking a long break on reading advanced reader copies as the deadlines were just really hard to meet with how crazy life was. I'm finally easing my way back in, and have requested two or three books on netgalley! I apparently jumped back in at exactly the right time! ☺️

Another bitty pottery update for the week! I'm pretty proud of the fact that I threw that tiny spout on the wheel! My little one is obsessed with these tiny tea set pieces, so we use the big teapot to fill the little one, and then he pours tea for anyone who will accept a tiny cuppa!

My daughter read and loved this Georgette Heyer book this summer, and inspired me to reread it! I love that Heyer's historical romances are just light, humorous, and charming. Sometimes I just need a book to make me chuckle and to bring delight. I think I have a good balance....I do, after all, have The Count of Monte Cristo on my nightstand too!

Do you have a favorite Georgette Heyer book?

We've got our first OFFICIAL review for Meredith's literary book themed candle collection! We've burned many of her candles around the house and I totally agree...the scents are gorgeous without being overpowering! And, I mean, I'm biased, but I think these are a PERFECT gift for anyone who loves books! β™₯️β™₯️β™₯️

About 11 months ago, right before my first pottery class, my son wrote the journal shown in photo number 2! About a month ago taught us how to make teapots! So here is my real life rendition of my kiddo's teapot! We just had our first tea party over lunch, and he was completely stoked! ☺️

I know, I know...Back to School season is about bouquets of sharpened pencils and anticipating fall leaves underfoot! But over here at Bookology headquarters it also means CHRISTMAS 🎁 IS πŸŽ„ HERE! The bookish ornaments especially are rolling out in droves! But I'm also extremely excited about having an entire Christmas Bookstack Collection! It started with an 8x10 painting...and now it is stickers, mugs, and cards! So tell me...when do you turn your mind to the holidays?

The Mary Lennox Candle! This tiny cup has major Secret Garden vibes, so Meredith scented it with πŸͺ» a soothing and healing lavender! This candle holds 5 oz of soy wax for 20 hours of burn time!

Each literary candle is hand poured into vintage glassware, and arrives with instructions for cleaning the wax remnants out of your teacup so that it can be enjoyed with your afternoon brew for years to come! This particular teacup is from a hard to find set by Denby in England. The pattern is called Lorraine. Unfortunately, these did not come to us with their saucers! 😭 Isn't the detail around the base of the cup adorable?

Oh, friends, school starts this week. I'm okay with it, because I know once we reestablish routine that everyone's mental health flourishes! I suppose our family is just uptight that way! Tell me about you: are you a routine person/family or more fly-by-the-seat-of-your-pants?

I love these bookmarks (with this quote from Matilda by Roald Dahl) for back to school season! They look adorable nestled in a first day gift for a teacher or tucked into a lunch box for your avid reader! β™₯️
