Once again, it’s up to the parent to maintain or repair the relationship. It’s up to the parent to show they care for their children, want to spend time with their children, want to be involved in their lives. Always. It’s not enough to say “if the kids want to spend time with me they’ll reach out” that’s an excuse to not have to face the hurt you’ve caused.
Because the kids are hurt. The kids feel abandoned. They don’t have to reach out ever. You show them you care by showing up and continuing to try.
