These UT students are biking from Austin to Anchorage Alaska! They came through Snyder and WestTexas yesterday. 4500miles in 70 days. Pretty neat story I’ll post a link in the comments.

WILDFIRE UPDATE - 9:00 PM

- The Smokehouse Creek Fire north of Pampa has now consumed some 250,000 acres and has zero percent containment.

- City of Pampa spokesman Dustin Miller tells KGRO that conditions have improved enough that the voluntary evacuation for residents has officially been lifted.

- Evacuations for Wheeler and Mobeetie are still in effect. There will be shelters available at Wellington WAC and Childress City Auditorium (100 Fair Park Drive)!! Fire is located North of town headed south.

- Evacuations have been issued for residents of Skellytown. A shelter has been set up at the First Baptist Church of White Deer.

- The Windy Deuce fire has consumed 38,000 acres and is 20% contained.

- The Grapevine Creek Fire has consumed 30,000 acres and is 20% contained.

- Evacuations have been ordered for Sanford and Bugbee. Shelters are available at the Celebration Family Church in Fritch, and the Johnson Youth Center in Borger

- Evacuations were carried out in Miami and Canadian earlier today. Shelters have been set up at First Baptist Church of Pampa.

- Listeners of KDDD report that State Highway 136 is open and passable between Borger and Stinnett

- State Highway 273 remains closed between Lefors and RM 1321 north of McLean

545 pm: Evacuations for the following so far: Canadian, Fritch, Skellytown, Pampa (voluntary)

WILDFIRE ALERT IN TEXAS PANHANDLE! 🔥

Mandatory shelter in place is in effect for Canadian, TX which is a small town in the Eastern Panhandle. Reports from the field indicate the fire has jumped Highway 83 and continues racing east. Please check on your friends and family in that part of the state. Follow local media sources for up to date information.
